On the last day I was headed to Moab and was talking on the Ham to Scott on Imogene Pass. He was having trouble with his rig starting, how did that work out?

Incredible work Ramathorn!! I've sent this to my whole family and coworkers!
Great job on that video compilation! Incredible collection of cool shots!

Go to another event with 300 trucks. Then come out to HIH. You will quickly understand that "small" is what makes this thing work.:)

Like 100+ is a small event. You guys have it nailed down perfect!

Imagine the planning that goes on for 100 trucks! It would be a massive amount of work for people who are VOLUNTEERING to put this event on if it was any bigger. Also keeping at the size it is now feels right. I doubt there were many people complaining about too many trucks or people this year. Yes the waitlist was pretty long, but right now, we all have a little bit less than a year before THE OCHO. We all know it's going to be the same size. We all know that @paflytyer and @bluecruiser will announce the dates with plenty of time to plan and get ready. And they will announce the date and time to register for the event. If you want to attend HIH, make it a priority to be ready to register when the clock strikes zero.

Instead of all of us asking for more trucks or more dates, maybe this can be the inspiration for someone else to put on an event sometime else during the year? I wonder what the trails on the east coast look like. I would love to the west coast. And what about you guys up north near the lakes? A winter version of HIH just can't happen in the Rockies, but I bet it can for sure happen in Texas, Arizona, Florida, even Arkansas has trials that can be navigated during the winter.

Let's have someone step up to start the winter version somewhere!

I myself will be sitting at my computer or device watching the clock and registering for THE OCHO as soon as registration opens.

This is how cool our sponsors are. Mike from BIO not only hand delivered my skids to HIH7, he helped me install them in the wet pavement. Had to take a pic with him what a legit dude!

I'm with keeping it small that's what makes it special.

So, with all the water crossings and huge mud holes we went thru this year, should I worry about water getting into my diffs thru the breathers? Running a stock truck on 33's.

Just changed diff fluids about a year ago, so don't want to do it again soon unless I have to.

You should be fine. You didn't go fast to make a big splash did you.

Just getting home from Montana. Chris and I chatted tonight about how great the video is and all the questions here.

100 trucks in Silverton will be the max for the foreseeable future.

There will be more than one event per year. The others will be smaller and centered more around longer distances and more remote areas. Moab will be next and we're working on it right now. Chris and I have been coordinating via text tonight to work on logistics. Permitting and proper space are actually tougher in Moab.

The size of HIH ensures that everyone knows everyone and we can all gather together. It's something you have to experience to understand. We're not excluding anyone and we can absolutely get a permit for double the trucks and people, but that doesn't allow us to all gather at the Wyman for opening night, or all fit into the lodge for dinner. We don't sell raffle tickets. Everyone gets just one. Your chances are way better than 1/100 to win a $1,000+ item. That's the idea. Kids make friends, parents make friends, everyone has a great time. Baseball, bike riding, exploring, .....it's more than wheeling.

There will be smaller East Coast events in the future. Were trying to ensure that there is organic growth to the event. Too many events all over the country and HIH stops being a destination event. There is only one HIH and that's in Silverton, Colorado. The Moab event has a slightly different name. HIH is a registered non-profit in the State of Colorado.

Thanks for understanding.

Part of the allure of the event is its small and intimate size. It's not a money making business. Everything we do is aimed at providing the best experience possible. We choose the highest quality shirts, printers, inks and designers to ensure that the gear you receive or purchase will last longer than your drive home. We test the stickers to make sure they won't fade, we wash and dry the shirts to see if they'll hold true to size.

All of this takes a long time to do and we won't allow someone to use the HIH name to create something that is second rate.

Very well said Stan, I couldn't agree more and look forward to what you have planned in the future.

It's up! Subscribe!
Great video - that sort of quality takes time and skill, thanks for your effort!

I've uploaded all of my photos here. If I got a photo of your truck please feel free to grab a copy, and apologies in advance for the copious photos of mine. I don't have much of a trip report, although I did finally pull the track log for around Silverton:

I still need to do a write up, that may happen later today, but I created a quick album of 100 pics from out trip. A lot of them were taken by my 12 year. And the camera he was using was a Sony Alpha 200, at least that's what I think it called. It was my dad's and he gave it and all of his other photography equipment to us. We honestly do not know how to use it, since it a DSLR, but Elijah sure took to it really fast, and he loved every bit of it.

Let me know if this works link works.

Thanks again @paflytyer, @bluecruiser and all the vendors and sponsors for this year. I know you all hear it all the time, but coming from this guy I truly do appreciate everyone who helped put this on. Remind me to line all you up for a hug next year, because you deserve it.
I know I there a couple pics of @CreasyBear and @Ed of house LX470 in there, not sure who else we got in there.

Comment on the photos please! It would be nice to hear some feedback and pointers. Again, Elijah really loved taking the pics, especially the macros.

I can't wait to see you all again.
