That's what I'm talking about! Thank you @Ice cold.
Nice pis @EOH, thanks for sharing, look forward to seeing you and your "wing man" soon.Weeks have gone by and I am still too eager to share memories and photos from this awesome event.
The effortless hospitality and comradery from all who attended is an apt reflection of the quality, effort and vision of @bluecruiser, @paflytyer and team. You all made it easy and memorable for us and it is very much appreciated.
People Highlights :
- @aaronrules impromptu drawer demo that highlighted how woefully under prepared we all are.
- @CreasyBear 's Tent Maj Hal tour and realizing too little too late that he had the perfect "You park like an A_hole" stickers for cars parked at the end of a blackbears switch backs.
- Meeting @Austin Hot Shoe, his awesome wife Monica, them offering us shelter from the rain and karma repaying them with a sweet Dissent front bumper at the raffle.
- @mattafact, a small group and I performing camper awning repairs with a flat head screwdriver, mallet, dying hand drill with too much beer in our system
- My son insisting we come back because he had "the best week ever"
It was great meeting everyone.
Cheers!
Ed

You hit the nail on the head @ChuckB, I think that I can speak for all participants...We got a bunch of new friends, thanks to Stan and Chris. This is what it's all about! Not having been a participant, you can just feel the camaraderie and sense of family imbued in this event from reading the posts.
Based on my current life schedule I'm shooting for HIH12!!
PS - At some point in the future, when I'm back in the states, I am willing to help setup an Upper Peninsula of Michigan event.
(edit) - Just watched the video. Absolutely amazing!
Donated..Dan is a personal friend, HIH7 member, longtime Land Cruiser owner, longtime TLCA member and one of the longest tenured officers of Rising Sun 4x4 Club. He and his family need our help right now. They're in the process of selling his 40 to stay afloat while Dan is in the hospital. They're keeping the 100Dan would help you off the trail and give you the last dollar in his pocket to make sure you could get home. Let's do the same for him. We're wishing him all the best and hope for a speedy and uneventful surgery and recovery. You can read his story in the link. Scary stuff.
Please give if you can.

Be sure to post up some pictures of your new Dissent bumper when you get it Kevin. You were an absolute hoot and your encouragement and assistance with checking my fuses at 12,000 feet won't soon be forgotten!
Just getting home from Montana. Chris and I chatted tonight about how great the video is and all the questions here.
100 trucks in Silverton will be the max for the foreseeable future.
There will be more than one event per year. The others will be smaller and centered more around longer distances and more remote areas. Moab will be next and we're working on it right now. Chris and I have been coordinating via text tonight to work on logistics. Permitting and proper space are actually tougher in Moab.
The size of HIH ensures that everyone knows everyone and we can all gather together. It's something you have to experience to understand. We're not excluding anyone and we can absolutely get a permit for double the trucks and people, but that doesn't allow us to all gather at the Wyman for opening night, or all fit into the lodge for dinner. We don't sell raffle tickets. Everyone gets just one. Your chances are way better than 1/100 to win a $1,000+ item. That's the idea. Kids make friends, parents make friends, everyone has a great time. Baseball, bike riding, exploring, .....it's more than wheeling.
There will be smaller East Coast events in the future. Were trying to ensure that there is organic growth to the event. Too many events all over the country and HIH stops being a destination event. There is only one HIH and that's in Silverton, Colorado. The Moab event has a slightly different name. HIH is a registered non-profit in the State of Colorado.
Thanks for understanding.
Part of the allure of the event is its small and intimate size. It's not a money making business. Everything we do is aimed at providing the best experience possible. We choose the highest quality shirts, printers, inks and designers to ensure that the gear you receive or purchase will last longer than your drive home. We test the stickers to make sure they won't fade, we wash and dry the shirts to see if they'll hold true to size.
All of this takes a long time to do and we won't allow someone to use the HIH name to create something that is second rate.
We brought the young kids 1&4 that kept us on our toes and probably woke the neighbors a few times. Driving the curves of 550 had my daughter spewing. The drive up to Clear Lake got the kids playing in the rocks and snow. I meant to ask how Super Secret got its name, but my little girl was tasting more of the rocks.
My son Logan has been working on this. He's an aspiring filmmaker. Really proud of what he put together. Enjoy!!
