That steering wheel looks great! Who did it? Mine is looking like it’s 51 years old.

@Jdc1 - Hats of to Rubber City Land Cruisers aka RCLC for the wheel rehab.

Mine was an eyesore. Pretty sure the PO had a dog with separation anxiety.

Looking good (not that I get a say - I would do the match) - sounding like OPORD imminent either way.

Pretty sure we’re going with the stock-ish OE panel color matched to the seats. Going to mimic the seams as much as possible. Thread color is the discussion du jour.

Old men never sleep.

Early morning meanderings. During the phase I rehab, I picked up some of Dave’s/4plus J/seat legs. Solid quality product but, with the addition of AQ tub, they didn’t fit “just right”. In the extended position the seat had a pretty good upward rake. I was missing the rubber feet and mounting hardware at the time (old and worn out OE put in the spares box), so we decided to hold off installing them.

With IIB in motion we’re revisiting the installation and shortening the legs. The surgery was a success. Removed about 3” of material at the mounting point. YMMV on a OE tub. New rubber feat and mounting hardware currently inbound from Cali curtesy of SOR.

Friday wrap up.

Mock up is “mocked”. Doors and hood remain original 1.0 full blown mule skin. All things considered (abuse from current owner) they weren’t in bad shape. Going to give credit to regular fluid film spray treatments for staving off any serious damage. Inner door mechanism(s) were in very good shape as are the outer handles.

Hit up the Father Son Team at JR’s upholstery with a WARNORD and a BPT engage the door cards. We’ve discussed a couple of options. I think in the end we’ll go with a stockish look with the MGV to match the seats. Meeeeybbee.

I am in no way suggesting this to you however I have been considering options for my doors as well. The CCOT Serengeti door panel painted to match is one that I am considering.

The Serengeti’s were on the table as an option. I really like the clean look. I have a set of the Australian door cards to use as a base.

Some of the “smalls” that didn’t make the cut in “24”. Added the D-ring shackles.

Picking up a winch this summer. The Warn 89305 ZEON 8-Looks like a good candidate. With the AQ tub, we trimmed some phat vice the weight of the OE tub. Ms Revenge should be able to extract herself out of any unforeseen asphalt entanglement with an 8k.

Semi Documentary:

Going to try and add some of the good, bad and ugly information regarding the TROA top.

Initial unboxing. The Ambi door selection does come with a tailgate section. I didn’t realize this when I hit the send it now button on the interwebs. I just assumed there would be mods required IOT make the TROA Ambi door frames work. The TROA doors a thin mint at best. Doesn’t make it horrible, just makes it a challenge. We have a set of AQ doors also and a 2nd set of Ambi door hinges. So, without running too far down the rabbit hole, there’s a “spit in the dirt and draw with a stick” phase to make a determination on which way to go.

@RevISK, I’ll bounce some of the info off of you, just to see how this lines up with your experience and maybe start a lessons learned on the TROA tops, or just meet up over a beverage or six and shoot the $hit. I’m flexible, your call. 🫵🏻🍺😎

you’ve got my number.
holler

Rogga!!!

Trying to get my proverbial &#@! together this year. My space time continuum is outa’ whack. Too many projects, self induced and other. Ms Revenge is calling in all the markers I’ve laid out over the last 25yrs. I’ve come to a rather obvious conclusion thats been percolating recently. Firstly, It seems a fella, whether by fortune or folly, makes a lot of promises while discharging his duties as a domestic consort. Secondly, you can’t dodge the Mrs when the bill comes due.

I hope to be finding my way south once or twice this year.

Now we're getting somewhere.

Seems to me as I recall, right about the time you were making your way through the internals of a 2f and scraping rust in your driveway, the word went out to meet somewhere in the vicinity of the nearest stream, creek (crick in the common vernacular) or mud-hole IOT tell tall tales, exchange parts and sacrifice some unwanted brain cells. Next thing I know you’re pulling pitch, heading out west to get in touch with your inner Jeremiah Johnson.

(Insert hint of jealousy) Now it’s all deep powder day dreams and week long river excursions, all the while I’m skiing boiler plate and chasing 6” brook trout.

Fortune favors a Trout Bum..well played sir, well played.

If my maker sees fit, I am headed out to your neighborhood, west of the divide in 26 for an Elk hunt in Colorado late Sept. I’ll be somewhere in the vicinity of Rio Blanco County.

Making hay while the sun shines.

Between roofing ops at the Meade Hall and breaking in a MEC 9000H, I’ve not kept up with the progress on 2.0.

Front doors were first in the queue. They’re primed and ready to shoot. Waiting for the other soon to be Mule Brown parts and some YOTA OE bits for the rear doors.

Fall back pics from earlier: working the AQ rear doors. As with the other mods to 2.0 some assembly required.

Mockup phase. Upper hinges/door fitment.

I realize we are internet friends but brothers by FJ40 so I hope you’re not offended when I compare your extremely accurate description of marriage to this statement.

None taken…🍺👈🏻🤣

Beavering through mockup.

Lower hinges placed. Rear bow w/part of the ambi door support mocked. Modifying the AQ doors and TROA supports to fit (together).

Going to rework the AQ recessed lock in favor of an OE-ish setup. Probably add a gusset to the doors IOT open up the inside panel for accessing the new hinges.

Test fit. Windshield channel going on.

There are some nuances with the AQ cowl/windshield, not complaining, couldn’t be happier with the product but, there are challenges associated with a non OE tub, windshield and cowl.

I’ll post up a review later in the thread for the TROA.
