Birds of a feather…

2.0 no longer has a rear heater…Sooooo, I’ve been looking at a way to install an upright shotgun mount for a couple of O/U’s. I picked up a HMMV mount years ago for 1.0 and never got around to thinking it through. Not exactly what I’d want in 2.0 but it’s a concept. 😎 Kicking the can.
I may or may not have seen an overhead rack mounted in a 40 once.

Check out Big Sky Racks

I’ve got a SBR-1G in my 40, but need to replace the foam.

So, this AM I figure I’d knock out a easy peasy seat belt install. Simple enough…Attach to seat, attach to roll bar then attach housing to, hmmm attach housing to thin air... I stood there for a few minutes like a chicken watching a hat trick. Then I rememberized, 1.0 had a mounting point on the tub for the housing. At least that’s the story I’m rolling with..

@Green Bean I recall you mentioning at some point either fabbing up or purchasing a bracket that attaches to a mounting point on the foot of the roll bar. Can you be so gracious as to shoot me a visual memory activator of your 3-point housing bracket/mount?? 🙏

At your leisure sir, no urgency implied…😁

Wow, a trip down "Memory Lane." I purchased this seat belt kit from CCOT. It came with some of the mounting hardware that I used. But, since our roll bar didn't have any provisions for mounting the retractors, I purchased a pair of 6" single bend angle brackets from here. Nobody has ever accused me of being the smartest knife in the drawer, so I'm virtually positive that there are much better alternatives. But I didn't want to remove the roll bar and weld a bracket onto it and deal with repainting, so it seemed my options were somewhat limited.

Wow..That’s not what I visualized in my tiny lil’ Infantry head..I’m liking an “L” type bracket. Something “Romper Room” proof. In my case, I’d need to bolt it to the outside mounting point on the roll bar foot. My clearance on the Evap cover isn’t there.

@Green Bean

Checked CCOT and Seatbeltsplus. That’s for the tip. 😎

I believe the hardware was 12mm. Although might have been 7/16, would be close. Brackets did come with the kit. Found these on Amazon. I thought the powdercoater had lost mine so we had some of the ones below floating around the shop. Of course after I get them painted and mounted, I found the powdercoated ones. But the ones below would have worked fine.

Seat Belts are in… sorta. Ordered a 90* bracket for the housing. Should be here in a few days. Next up, bolt on tailgate and license plate bracket, then hit the local chapter of the DMV. Thinking about sacrificing a box of doughnuts to the “gatekeepers”.

Doughnuts are always good insurance. Last time I took them to the tire store with me I almost felt sorry for the other 3 guys standing around when they opened the door. New tires on one car and a rotation on another before noon. 👍🏻

Doughnuts to DMV? Geez, around here they would know you’re trying to do something illegal. Talk about ass-kissing. On the other hand, as a fellow ass-kisser my grandmother always told me; “ you’ll catch more flies with honey than you will with vinegar”

I picked up two extra sets of the 90* brackets yesterday…Trying to workout an idea for my Jseat anchor points.

Shake down….

Hit the the road yesterday. There’s a gas station about 3 miles from the front door. Grabbed a buddy as a blocking vehicle (no plates or inspection sticker) and made the round trip. Shook out a few cobwebs 😎. The JimC “refreshed” carb was purring. Ran it up to about 40MPH according to the go fast indicator. Ammeter was showing on the lean side of my comfort level. Let it sit and idle for 20 minutes or so and it looked like it was charging.

Felt good to be back in the saddle. See if I can’t make it down to the DMV next week and get it legalized and start making some longer trips over the next couple of weeks.

The questions is: Did you follow the new protocol? Upon arrival to the filling station, did you set out all of the orange traffic pylons to adequately shield Mule V.2 from any misfits who might cause an errant door ding or the wayward pooch that might be tempted to hike a leg?

The doughnuts are just keeping the wheels lubed and spinning. In our shop here where I work when someone comes in with fat pills as we call them some how magically their vehicle gets done a little bit faster.

Today us national doughnut day. Doughnuts are mandatory.

All fail safes and barrier protocols were observed in accordance with the newly established standard operating procedures. 😎
