help needed. I took my wiring harness out of my 1971 FJ40 two years ago to paint and restore. I took a ton of pictures to make sure I know where every wire and component goes. Well, I lost all the photos. HELP. I am looking for a wire diagram, pictures of where dash components go, pictures of wiring under dash and at starter…

Get the fuse block in place, left side of the harness exits the firewall by the brake booster , right side goes out near the glovebox/heater blower.

Might want to change the emergency flasher fuse taped into the harness before you get it into the dash.

Any pictures or diagram? Have box set and main line through but where things go from here and what goes where on dash…?

Thanks, printing those now from Coolerman. Anyone have actual photos of dash layout and starter wiring?

If you hunt around on this forum you'll find a thread documenting 40 dash layouts over the years.

Or take this opportunity to put your switches wherever the heck you want them :)

It's really not a big deal with the pre '72 harnesses, and as long as the cowl vent mechanism isn't in the way, you can pretty easily move the main trunk back and forth. You can't be off more than about two inches worst case scenario.
Look at pictures of'71 dash switch layout (I think @woytovich started the thread on the variations) hang your switches, and the various switch-specific plugs will get you lined up in no time.

It really IS plug and play. I did my first one 33 years ago, and it literally took 45 minutes.
