Weekend update: the blasting, cleaning, blasting more, priming and painting is done! 2 coats primer, 3 coats chassis black.
Can't wait to put it all back together again and start the conversion brackets.

Verified my axle is a 91 this weekend, and that I need a new ring a pinion. Pinion has 91, 06, 28 engraved on it. The three rusty pitted ring teeth and the fact that I was getting some odd patterns on the gears sold me on replacing them.....SnAiLs pace compare to @dbbowen 🤣

My truck is my DD so i had to knock my swap out in less than a week.

If it makes you feel any better, i had both axles and the Trail Tailor Bracket kits for two years and slowly collected the rest of my parts for 2 years before i started building my axles

Another update......The axle is done, aligned, and ready for install. Not without a bunch of hickups. Pretty nice for something that will get covered in all kinds of stuff under the truck. Diff is all rebuilt with OEM bearings & seals, Yukon ring & pinion, Man a Fre solid collar customized to fit. For anyone going this route, don't bother saving the backing plate/ dust shields, you will need new ones if you want the bigger late model 80 calipers & rotors. Only go OEM on the hardware. Excited to get this under the Cruiser.

Super pretty. Just stare at it a while longer before going under truck.

Had off today.....cleaned, taped and sprayed the TT brackets, all but the small ones. Got all the tire's still on stuff taken off: shocks, sway bar, bump stops, stabilizer, driveshaft, tie rod end on pitman arm, and found the sliders are slightly to close for welding around, so removed those for now. Posting because I found something interesting.......when removing bump stops I noticed one newer slightly taller on the driver's side. Then I noticed the shock tower on the driver's side is welded on where the PS is rivets only.

The possible good news is.....need to confirm....but to me it looks like the steering box has the 80 hole pattern? It would definitely make less work if that is the case.

Looks like you have an early box.

For reference

I was afraid of that......I had it in my mind backwards thinking the later box they squared the holes🤣.....more work.

My employer put an 80 box on his ‘83 60 without modifying the frame, he just notched one of the mounting holes.

Back in action...... unplanned COVID w Flu double slam. Restored 60 front axle, 4:10 Eaton e-locker, and tundra brake mod, coming to a classified near you.
Excited to get this going again. It is so wide open under there maybe I should do the rear main and oil pan now? Don't think my transmission jack will go this high however.
