Question - I'm looking at traveling from Ouray to Telluride (via Camp Bird / Imogene Pass). This would be depart Ouray on CO 361 to Camp Bird to CO 26A to Telluride.

Please lemme know if anyone has traversed this route before. I have some questions for you...

Imogene Pass

Thanks!

I expect most of the folks in this thread have. It’s not recommended for a daily commute if that’s your question. :)

Not saying I wouldn’t take it over my daily voyage to San Francisco. What’s on your mind?

We did that in reverse 2 years ago... I think we had 5 or 6 trucks. We did it super fast because we were trying to make it back in time for the Slee dinner in Ouray. We made it in record time. :)

Markuson / Indycole,

Excellent, thanks. I'm guessing its a solid 90 mins (one way) at a quick pace?

I was pipelining last night and found these phots which appear to be on that same trail; and from what I see stock seems sufficient (bottom 1/2 of photos):

For Sale - Selling Fat Amy: Built 2011 Amazon Green 200 Series on 37's in Jackson, MS

As such I will be stock everything except the tires (KO2)... and possibly adding only coil spacer up front for 20mm (leveling only).

OK?

That is Black Bear Pass. We ran Black Bear down into Telluride and Imogene back up to Ouray. I think there were a few stockers with us

Stock (AT tires strongly recommended) should be fine on Imogene and Black Bear. There are spots on Mineral Creek and Poughkeepsie where you’d want some combination of a lift and sliders. Rain changes the conditions obviously.

Folks staying in Ouray for the LCDC event would be better off taking the highway or Ophir than Imogene when trying to make time for meet ups in Telluride.

I picked up a couple of specially programmed radios at Cruise Moab’s vendor night. They allow both FRS and HAM simultaneously. So... You push one talk button to broadcast to ham...and another to broadcast to FRS. And of course listen to both.

Other Hans can be tuned to get FRS but it’s a pain to do on the fly.

If you are interested, talk to Midwest Overland. $45 per unit and they are 8 watt ham... Very helpful setup in mixed groups. No CB, but CB is just comparative bad news. I have two CBs and they both drive me nuts. Probably miss more messages than I can hear clearly.

Do you have a link or model number? I am often trail leading a group that has HAM and FRS. We default to FRS, but it would make everyone happy if I could broadcast on both!

We are also planning to attend for the 1st time this year, Camping but would like to find something closer to town. It looks like the campgrounds have a fair amount of sites that are first come, so hopefully arriving mid week there will be some sites open. Also we are not opposed to dispersed camping on the NF somewhere if anyone has suggestions.

LCDC Gang - I'll be bringing stickers for attendees and am kicking around a few concepts for the artwork, please vote on your favorite(s) above.

I like #2 and #8 and if I had to vote, it would be #8... would be awesome to throw a snorkel on the truck, but only because I have one :)

Truth be told, I actually like them all so there is no lose here. Awesome job and thanks for doing this!

great work! I would say 5 and 8 are my favorites. With 8 winning by a nose

these are awesome, thanks for doing this! I like #5 and #7

Awesome work Matt, I like 7,8 and 1

5 and 7 - nice work Matt

I like 5, but would like it even more if it’s white stripe was tire tread like 3. :)

Also like 7.

But man, these all look amazing, Matt!
