I really want and need to come to one of these events out west but it's about 30 hours of driving each way from VA so I'm trying to figure out realistically how many days of driving out and back I'd need to make it happen. ?

CruiserHead05 and I (along with our old ladies) compose Team Virginia - but we're looking to grow it and caravan!

We took the southern route (stops in Nashville, Memphis, ABQ) on the way out, and drove (almost) straight through on the way back. This was a bit longer, and was done to coordinate some stuff for the girls, but this year we're thinking straight shot to Denver.

We drove 14 hours on day 1, 16 hours on day 2, and 5 hours on Day 3... again, this was the long route. On the way back, it was almost a straight shot, aside from 2 hours of sleep at a WalMart in KS. Brandon drove straight home from there, but we had to get 2 hours of shut-eye at a KY Rest Stop before pushing forward.

Shoot me a PM if you want to connect as we'd love to make it a convoy!

We're a few hours north of DJW and will likely take a slower route out and then straight shot it home. It took my 24hrs drive time from Denver to home, so I'm guessing it'll be around 30 to Ouray.

Any time spent driving to this event is worth it. It truly is the best event to bring the family along with too. We did our drive therein 3 five hour days, but only took one to come home. If there is one thing you do this summer with your 100 and the family, this is the one you should do. Being a total noob with my 100 and wheeling in general, I learned a lot and never felt out of place either. If they can get another trip with some fishing in again, I highly recommend going on that one. And don't chicken out like I did, do Black Bear! Seeing the pics from that ride has made not going the only regret I have from that trip.

You will be driving 30 hours. Best advise I can give is to come to Ouray, and drive the 4 more hours after to Moab. We did it last year and will do it again this year on our way to Washington state.

The views around canyonlands and dead horse point are worth the drive if all you do is come look.

Looks like I'll be joining the long haul crowd for this one! Changes are heading our way in the near future and moving is a sure thing now for our family!
I'll post some details later.

Ah man, I though you just got here? Hope it's all for the better and we'll catch you on the trails.

I know but when the table turns you do what you have to!

How do the trails on this trip fare with RTTs? Are low hanging branches an issue? How about off camber trails where high center of gravity may be an issue?

Hopefully we will be back again. Every day I relive a memory from this trip. We had a great time last year. The kids had a blast meeting kids from far away states and I gotta get me some more of that green chili beer!!!

Duc the RTT does great on these trails.

I have got to make this trip, just trying to figure out how to make it as the kidos start school that week... Solo trip here I come.

I am in the very early stages of planning for our big summer trip to include HIH of course. Thinking about taking a northern route from Cincinnati this year. Maybe through South Dakota. Anyone ever wheel in the south west of South Dakota. Kids wants to see Mount Rushmore and I would love to drop down through Wyoming and northern Colorado before ending up in Ouray. Any thoughts or anyone else in for a long trip?

Also subscribed! First-timer. I'll be watching for the sign-up and looking forward to it.

Edit: Post # 100 in the 100 series forum about a trip to 100s in the hills. Call me corny but I think is cool!
