I'll give you $6,000.

Tcase may be pumping into transmission unless you see lots leaking. 1Q of 90wt looks like 200 gallons on the ground.

There is a kit to "fix" pump issue from tcase to tranny.

Mike, here's the kit Lash and Nolen mentioned. You can build one yourself, but the MAF kit is an easy fix if you don't have time to source parts and fab your own.

Oil Return Kit (Transmission to Transfer Case)

You are always welcome, Lee.

You know I'd already have been there if personal issues hadn't taken over. I'm in dire need of some Mississippi porch sittin' therapy. Hopefully that'll be happening soon.

short term fix is a hose between the fill plugs that allows the overfilled to drain back to the underfilled. You can have one made at a hose shop like Parker for around $22.

The other big area for a tcase to leak is past the seal on the output within the speedo housing. It will leak into the parking brake drum.

If you're considering an Orion, get the hose mentioned above for a short term work-around.

Lash is spot on here. Try the hose as a short term fix and get a little more seat time in your 40. In the end, you are going to want to step up to an Orion so I woould not put $ into your old case.

Oh, Georg.....:wrench::wrench:

Mike I might have the hose you need. I'll look.

I've noticed that stockish 40s seem to be geared higher than my truck on the trail. Could be other factors, though.

What would you guys pay for this truck? It's for sale in Waco, 100 miles north of me. One of my neighbors is negotiating with the seller, who's stuck on $10K.

Rebuilt engine, new clutch and rebuilt brakes, new tires, new upholstery.

Heater is missing, Holley carb, no PS, pretty much bone stock from what I can tell.

Without seeing it in person, I'm thinking $8-9K, not 10.

Come on guys, someone must have an educated guess as to the value of this 40. My neighbor is driving to Waco to see it this afternoon. I told him to offer $8K, provided it looks as good as the photos. The seller claims it's rust free.

I think if he thinks it is worth 10 and you say 9, offer him 9500.

The seller has receipts for every penny he's spent on the truck during 6 years ownership. He paid $2.5K for it in 2006, now has $9800 "invested." He's attempting to recover every dollar spent for everything including routine maintenance, hence the $10K price tag. I'm just not seeing $10K there. Will let you know how it shakes out.
