In my opinion, that's a $12K-$15K truck. Question mark is why the 2ND paint job? Does that mean Toyota painted it, then two paint jobs after that? It's not restored - it just appears to be loved.
$20K is a little over the top, I think. If original paint and owner, sure.

No, if your 40 was bone stock with its body condition it would be worth about 5 grand.
Add all the other stuff, its worth what you paid.
You can find "stock" FJ-40's all day long in the 9-12 K range

Mike, you really think it's worth only $3k? Is it bc you are having carb issues still?
I sought Nolen's advice on pricing it along with a few other people I respect....Remember Mike I was asking more and we, together, settled on our agreed price.
Mike, I hope you just have buyers remorse and don't feel I pulled one over on you. I feel I disclosed everything I knew of, short of a cross country drive in it, and gave you ample pictures...heck you drove it yourself.
I say $10-12K for a rust free stock '74, unless it's in showroom condition. My '82 looked a lot better than that one and I only paid $8K, with 57K miles on the clock. It was stock except for OME leaf springs.
We don't see many stock 40's for sale around here. There was a restored '82 that recently sold on ebay for $20K but it's the only one I can recall. Compare this one to the green '74 and tell me they're comparable.

WANTED to keep it but still have baby 2 on the way. It's NOT a death if it's being made better and enjoyed....that's the only reason I took offense to the $3k comment.
I'd buy it for $6k but my situation hasn't changed: Baby #2 on the way, job is really busy, and it's not the platform I need right now. (it's the only truck Ive ever wanted, but it's not what my family needs)
I agree with Lee's assessments above on those nice 40s and would love to jump back in the 40 family with a stocker DD but it ain't happen for a while.

What's the fix for your carb? Isn't it an Algazy rebuild? Would it be cheaper to just buy a new Trollhole carb than screwing with the one you have?
Pricing is an imperfect science at best. Hard to say what a 40 is worth these days. I thought I'd bought a nice stock '77 for $3900 3 weeks ago...until it was sniped the night before I was supposed to pick it up. But that's another story.
