Build 4 door FJ40

I don't know how useful this is actually going to be to you, but I'm going to post the link to a page that chronicles a four door FJ40 rebuild for you.

This build is being carried out in Pakistan, almost completely by hand.

The donor was a short wheel base 1984 FJ40, which has had the following nasty stuff done to it...

SOA.
Engine swap to a 1HZ mated to a five-forward gearbox.
Additional rear doors (full as well a pipe "half-doors").
Chassis lengthened.
Axle / diffs swap with a 60 Series Axle (using 5.22s).
15-42-15 Super Swamper TSL tyres.
A pickup tub in the rear.
Custom upright exhaust.
Custom bumpers.
Extended fenders.
Custom flares.
Sparco seats.
A/C.
Series 80 P/S.
Removable fiberglass roof.
(lots of other stuff; far too numerous to mention)

The vehicle is close to the finishing stage, and is currently being prepped for paint. After the paint, I'll get the interior and dashboard worked out (which is going to be stock 40 Series with a bit of a twist).

Thats awesome. They did a great job on those rear doors! The body on the 76 ended up being too rough and it didnt have a top, so Im still looking for the donor cruiser. Ive been thinking about the 4 door cruiser project a lot lately as the trailer project has hit some mile stones. Hoping to find a cruiser soon.
 
Nothing yet. Still havent located a donor cruiser.
 
Lol ok. I have just sent mine off to get restored. I'm getting a fj40 trader made as well. I was hoping that I could find a person who wanted to sale the few parts I need or if they have a Fj parts vehicle I could just buy.

A trailer and 4 door cruiser will require lots of donor body parts. Ask me how I know. :grinpimp: Ive got all the door parts for the additional doors in my parts shed. Just waiting for the right donor to come along.
 
I got three fj that has most of the parts i need, I was just interested in finding better parts. I love these fj's, and i think they are the funnest vehicle to drive. I just want to try something new on this restoration. well I think i might want to try it.

Unfortunately, I have to tell you, that I sold this car a year ago. However, a friend from Slovakia, who bought it from me, for her continued well cared for. ;-)

I dig the charcoal one that was previously posted. Thats the closest one I have found to the wheelbase that I am shooting for.
 
VI- I see what you're shooting for with the really narrow B-pillar, but do you think you'll be able to support the weight of a rear door on a narrower pillar than some that have been pictured already?

I think the reason it looks funny is because on newer (80-up) vehicles, the doors cover the B pillar completely when they are closed, so you can't even see it. I think it will be one of the more difficult parts of your design/build to get right... but I hope you do!
