Hi All

I have a '92 with a 3fe, 230k miles.
Mods: Desmogged
35" tires
Rear locker
3" OME lift

Got her set up for camping for two, aluminum roof rack, sleeping in the back - need some good mattress recs for the back area.
Located on the Big Island, if there's anyone on here located on island HMU!

Not unhappy with the power that she has, all the 3fe hate seems misguided and snobby.

Love the color combo as well but I'm a bit biased lol  . Just mounted 35's to mine as well. Didn't notice a huge difference in power going from 33's but I do have everything to regear as well.

I am running 37s, 488 gear on the third, 10% underdrive on high and lo range. that makes it close to 5.29 final gear, part time- 2WD/ I also have a 3rd gear lockup on my A440F Valve body upgrade, desmogged and running 12-13 degree timing advance and elec. fans setup ditching the fan clutch all together.
6800 lbs fully loaded and i can keep up with most 1

Nice looking rig. FWIW, I am running 315’s & 4.88 gears- speedo is pretty spot-on, & am very happy with the combo. Would love to copy @Marco Lau with equipment setup.
Time and money… 😥🤟

Nice dude, got to be one of the best color combos done by Toyota. Nice front bar set up too, I'm planning to do the same to mine soon.

Hello everyone, I’ve been having the stuck in park issue and after doing some digging and trouble shooting. I’ve narrowed it down to the brake light switch. Unfortunately the OEM part is no longer available, I bought one from my local parts store and it dint solve the main shift out of park issue, but it did improve how my transmission shift from park to drive or drive to park. I no longer have that hard clunk. It also improved by braking, before the truck would stop and go almost as if I was pressing rapidly pressing and releasing the brake peddle. Unfortunately now the rpn drop down to around 700 or below and has a rough idle when in drive and the peddle is pressed, for instance at a red light or stop sign. This was never the case prior to replacing the switch. I have the feeling due to it not being an OEM switch it’s not communicating correctly with ECM. Any body have any idea where I can possibly find an OEM switch or a switch from other models that might be interchangeable? Thanks again for the support!

Wanted to post on open forum an issue I'm having with my 91. Have had a pulsing/surging and low power under load the past few days, getting worse over time.

Slight unburnt fuel exhaust smell, idle is okay, slight shake, free rev is good but under load theres a noticeable misfire. Spark plugs, wires, cap/rotor all 6mo old and less than 10k miles. O2 sensors, air filter and 1 new injector on #2 at that same timeline, it cracked the top and was non functional. Ran amazing the last 7k miles but rig has 280k on it.. presuming original drivetrain.

Unhooked each wire at idle and each cylinder had some amount of fire, stronger on 1,3,5. Pulled cap and wires, nice even wear on rotor and posts (OEM denso, plugs were NGK coppers and wires were Standard)

Pulled spark plugs, plugs 1,3,5 nice and chocolate colored, no weird deposits or anything. 2,4,6 were black and wet showing overfueling, no weird deposits from oil burning.

Thought O2 sensor went bad, but those are split 1,2,3 and 4,5,6. The issues on 2,4,6 is the same set of injectors during batch fire so I'm thinking input sensor for fuel system (coolant temp sensor is new denso, AFM checked good 6mo ago.. but suspected issue when hot) or wiring short. Desmogged everything a few months ago and didn't have any wiring issues stand out.

So I'm suspecting AFM, its original and had a problem with low power under throttle on hot days going slow on trail rides this summer. If you shut it off and restarted the problem would go away for varied times. Is there anything else that would affect only 1 of the injector firing banks outside of a computer issue?

I'm an engineer so I assume I'm wrong until proven right 😄

Have you looked into the Fuel pressure regulator?
Considered it, and pulse damper but would expect all cylinders to be overfueling.

That said, the fuel system is dirtier in the rail than I've ever seen.. so fully expected to have to replace/clean the other 5 injectors eventually as well as pump and regulator.

I had this same issue, surging, lost of power, etc. It was my fuel pulsation damper..... cheap replacement and insurance...

Have you checked for any air leaks, vacuum lines cracked?

Possible its distributor related but beneath cap/rotor?
Have you pulled any codes? I would start there. FSM has good info to help troubleshoot.

FPD can make a few gremlins show up, for sure. Cheap HF test kit would let you easily test.
Do you have the FSM? That can be a great help for testing & troubleshooting.
Cheers!

Hey Cruiser Crew — quick question for the 80 Series 3FE nerds in my life:

Does anyone have a 1991 Toyota Land Cruiser Owner’s Manual they can check for me? Specifically, I’m looking for the part number listed on the back.

Here’s why — we offer an OE reprint that comes straight from Toyota. It’s accurate to the 80 Series from what I can tell (I’ve compared it against the ’92 manual), but some of the images inside show the FJ62 interior instead of the 80. From what I’ve gathered, that’s actually pretty common with the early ’91 manuals since it was the first year of the 80 Series and Toyota was still updating their materials.

Our ’92 manuals, by contrast, show all 80 Series interior photos.

Just hoping to confirm what Toyota was doing with those early ’91 manuals — did they all include the older interior images, or is ours an oddball?

Appreciate any insight from the group!

It's been a busy October for me, upgrade to LED bulbs all around used (LASFIT) plug and play LED's seems to be good so far. Picked up ROSEN SUNVISOR SYSTEMS, they are pretty much AWESOME! Ordered a set of Victory 4X4 rear MOLLE screen, (on sale right now). Then put in an order with White Knuckle Off Road Products for so lone (69 inch) steps/ sliders, will post when they come in.

If you could text me some pics of pages 2,3 would be awesome. I have unlocked a pandoras box. I have 2 other PN's too. None of them are the same... All original 1991's... 01999-60517, 01999-60495.
