just completed thinning the harness and tying my 40 harness into the FJ62 fuse panel for the updated fuses.

will be trying this as soon as i find a coil/igniter for a 1988 FJ62. I didn't get that along with the engine.

everything looks good!

Chucked a complete one in the bin only last week as it's no use to me

I took everything I thought I might need, I got the complete engine and interior harness with the ECU. Planning on just fishing out the few things I need from the interior though, way too much stuff for a 40. Not sure if I'm going to mess with swapping the fuse panel or not, might just set a sub-panel in the glove box as others have done. I did get the coil and igniter for the electronic ignition on the 3FE dizzy. I even got the gas pedal and throttle cable ;)

Yesterday -

Had the day off and got to tinker in the garage a bit, finally found a home for the rest of that gates green stripe I bought 4 years ago for my 80 PHH:

Then I moved on to the lower intake, pulled the old injector cups, cleaned the holes, and installed new:

Cleaned up the injector rail with some simple green and installed the injectors with new o-rings and spacers:

Also went ahead and cleaned up the PS pump and installed it on the bracket I had degreased and painted:

Not much progress, waiting on the intake to come back from media blasting. Wishing I had pulled the lower half as well now, but I knew I didn't have an intake/exhaust gasket :o

More to come next weekend ...

Tucker - are you going to use a external FPR, then you will need to cap one end of the fuel rail - might be a good time to do that before you install it onto the injectors.

I think I have the parts listed in my build tread.

Subscribed.... and very jealous. My 3fe is waiting for me to work on and make a harness. Wish I was in Austin too. Damn, I am jealous about everything....

Do you have a list of the part numbers for your purchases, or a scan of your invoice?

Tucker, here is a few things you can spend more money on! :)

Fuel Pump and FPR info that I used:

MSD-2225 Summit Summit Racing - High Performance Car and Truck Parts l 800-230-3030 $94.88
Aeromotive 13109 Summit Racing - High Performance Car and Truck Parts l 800-230-3030 $135.95
Gauge SUM-800199 Summit Racing - High Performance Car and Truck Parts l 800-230-3030 $17.95

Some info From RT Custom in the post below:

"It was a volume issue. When the truck was running on the OLD PUMP under idle or slight load it did fine. But as soon as you got after it it would starve and cause the truck to buck like a bull. I run the MSD 2555 on the vortecs and it was plenty for the 3FE. I thought it would work better and be easier to trouble shoot in the future.

It is regulated with the aeromotive regulator in the background. The regulator has a return line on it. Very simple and easy to trouble shoot. If you need the PN# for the regulator it is: aeromotive 13109"

Just for a difference of opinion. I'm using the OEM fuel pressure regulator with an aftermarket pump. I believe it's an Aeromotive, but don't remember which flavor. You need 45psi out the pump. Mine is mounted on the rear crossmember using muffler clamps and rubber isolators.

Great since I installed the new pump. It's a kick to drive and it's hard keeping the pedal from touching the floor. :grinpimp: I'm still at some point going to install the Cressida pump, but right now it's not a priority.

This was the path I had planned on taking as well, and shelling out the $$ for the bling if I ran into problems. You have the pump part number somewhere? I thought I read you got the isolator off a Cressida?

Your not going to clean it up?

Nothing I can really do w/o pulling it, would rather have carbon in the lower intake than an exhaust leak :frown:

If it's on the stand, and you can rotate it, how about inverting the engine and spraying the intake ports down with intake cleaner?

Like I said in the first post, I'm not rebuilding this engine ... just making it stop leaking ;) It's always a question of where do you stop? Two inches of intake, but then the head is full of carbon too. Pull off the head and have it magnafluxed, shaved and valves done, well now what about the rings? Too deep a hole for this project, I stopped right there :hillbilly:
