Would you possibly be willing to part with the 80 series pass side 3fe mount? I think that might solve a problem encountered when I drop my 3f into the FJ45.. Which is exactly the opposite of what you encountered, to put the 3f in a 40 series frame the pass side mount is too Long and you lose the AC mount. Most swappers use the 2f mount but I'd rather retain A/C in the long run.
Looking great.

Nice Phil! Great to see all the progress.
I was going to say at least it'll be ready for River Shiver, but there IS no river shiver next year. Guess it'll be ready for Cruise Moab 2011... right?! :grinpimp:

It better be ready for Thanksgiving!! I need the space for other projects and this is all consuming. I'll have more progress reports starting tomorrow... the kids are back in school, Thank God!

Definitely, this mount is a bit different than the 62 mount. I'll snap a pic and post it for you.

Here's some pics of the said bracket. Got a little progress today, got the knuckles on and changed out the shims in the rear axle. I found a box of ARB stuff, and in there were more c-clips of varying thickness. Found a couple a few thousand thicker that worked better. The right side knuckle was a PIA. I don't know who rebuilt it, but the shims were messed up. I ended up taking the thing apart a dozen times to get the proper pre-load. At least proper without a SST.

I"ll try and compare to stock 2f and stock 3f out of a wagon. Thank you for the pic.

Not too many pics, anyone who has rebuilt knuckles know a camera within 5 feet is a bad idea.

No joke!

Are you using the knuckle alignment tool to check them before putting it back together? I didn't on mine, and ended up using the same shims that I pulled off (after making sure everything was good and clean of course). Next time I do it, I'll get the tool and make sure everything's aligned right.

My buddy Rob has the SST, I chose not to use it. The left side went together perfectly with the shims that were in it. The right side was a mess, put it back together and the knuckle was notchy, you know, you move it back and forth and you can feel the bearings. At about that point I wished I had borrowed the SST. In the end I took all the shims out and started over. Began adding shims to the top and bottom until the pre load felt correct. Good thing is, the FSM calls for between 6.6 (starting) and 13 lbs. when pulled on the tie rod hole. I threw a fish scale on and started to drag at around 5 lbs, close enough. The knuckle moves with resistance and I can't "feel" the bearings moving. Should get the rotors on today and hopefully start on my DIY McNamara gear, using Orangefj45's thread.

More progress:
Finally got the rear end together
Some upgraded parts to stuff into the axle housing :)

One more of the buttoned up front end
Prepping for the next project
Sure is fun cutting things up, especially gears

The beginning of the DIY McNamara gear, cut out the inside of an extra PTO gear.
Hear are the 3 pieces that will be welded together, I won't have any pics of the process, I have a buddy with a shop who is going to put the new spacer in a lathe to clean it up then TIG weld the entire assembly together.

I dug out the 2f stock pass side motor mount and have my 3f sitting on the stand next to it but got distracted with the club event coming up this weekend.. Will try to get comparison as soon as I can.

Your progress looks great.

Very interested to see how the "FauxNamara" gear comes out.

Me too, my buddy Mike has it right now and is going to TIG it at his work. I'm stuck in Penticton working right now, I'll be back at 'er on Friday. Should be able to pick the gear back up on Saturday. Stay tuned...

Great work so far Granite!

Got some more work done, been keeping busy doing little things, cleaned up the spark plugs, replaced push rod and valve cover gaskets. determined that pretty much everything on the right side of the motor needs to swapped out. A lot of components are affected with the motor mount swap. The 80 series power steering bracket is different and won't allow the 60 series a/c bracket to mount up. I had to swap in the 60 series bracket in, which in turn allowed the a/c bracket an pump to be installed. The coolant lines that run beside the valve cover had to be changed, again different, as well as the coolant line that runs under the front of the block that attaches to the oil cooler.
I used some plastic spacers to move the brake/ fuel and EGR line off the frame, this should make things easier when I put the sliders on.
Started in on the transfer case, here's a pic of the DIY McNamara gear all cleaned up and ready for installation

More of the same, not to often I (I use the term loosely, my buddy Rob did most of the t-case installation) need to pound the gears onto the input shaft, but these needed mild persuasion.
