I get what you're saying, I've never understood why these don't come already turned down to remedy the issue of getting stuck in an elocker axle.

I mean even along the rest of the shaft

300M and 4340 and A36 hot roll all have essentially the same modulus of elasticity, but theoretically the former options can elastically deform more before plastically deforming

And their processes are so wildly inconsistent that 5% sampling isn't sufficient?

I'm also wondering if they buy some generic HT blanks and machine all the hardening off.

Or the blanks are intended to be HT but they forgot

Well so far they’re only two examples of twisting in this thread. I don’t think that’s sufficient evidence to write them off completely.
The real test will be if they hold up in @Oscar Witte rig or not.

If I remember correctly these axles were originally offered by Poly Performance, they gave up the rights to them and started letting Nittro sell them because they were having too many issues with them. I know I broke a set in my 80 axled 55 but was able to get them warrantied.

That's about 100% of the axles pictured.
How many units would they sell? Hundreds, or a couple of thousand over a few years. Not great odds.
Compared to the hundreds of thousands of OEM asked around the world that are shown all sorts of abuse

I will pull the other side today and report back. This axle only has about 800 or 1000 mi. on it. It gets wheeled but I don't shock load it or hammer on it to bad.

This is crazy. I was thinking RFB would be the only one and this would not be a common theme, but I'm interested to check mine now. I've been running full Nitro since 2012 and regularly put 600ft/lbs thru those same axle splines with a part-time kit and 40-42" tires. I'm not a throttle jockey when rock crawling either.

I hated my Poly Performance rear axle shafts. I ejected one over Hurrah Pass in Moab (making for fun work at Slickrock that night) in 2008. They always kept shearing rear axle studs and dowel pins (even with upgraded hardware on rear hubs and additional dowel pins).

I got rid of them and went back to OEM shafts before my 2009 Rubithon trip. I just brought an extra set of OEM shafts. Problem solved.

We'll see in month or so. I always got oem replacements. Even if they just warranty a new one for the 5 years at the same rate I break an oem shaft they'll pay for themselves.

Well it’s official had time to pull a axle, at least one of my Nitro's is twisted , figured I would go for the passenger side since I have factory lockers and wanted to make sure the axle wasn't stuck. Slee will have these RCV has signed me to make these and Cruiser outfitters will have these 300M drive axles more dowel pins etc. I dont hammer the truck on climbs And I know why Nitros spin up so easy, they leave the splines long AF so they can be cut for 80s 60s and 40 series and that makes them superweak. 300M lifetime warranty. And Im pulling nitro birfs and axles because OEM never twisted on me ever.

Twisted is Twisted, Mine have less then 1000mi. on them, Already running RCV up front would have for the rear but were not available at the time. I'm sure the SC helped with that twist. PS already put my order in for the rear 300m RCVs

You mention the super long spline cuts as a weak point, and that makes total sense, but this photo makes me wonder how many OEM axles and aftermarket axles with the correct spline depth are twisted past the spline and we just can't see the evidence?

Its appears BOTH will have them trying to find out if they are from same maker, and RCV told me 1199. for the entire set up directly.
