295/70/18 is a tire size that you should consider*

Mopar had a steal of a deal on tires with buy 3 get 1 free. So I went 295/70/18 on the LX.

going to run 1.25 spiders on 200 takeoffs. How much liner work are you guys doing for that 28.xx offset? I don’t care either way, just curious before I start heating and reshaping tomorrow. I know flaps and splash guard come off, and looking at it I’m assuming some relocation of the front.

Anyone had to chop the front edge of the running boards where it sits behind the flaps? Or that bracket that holds it? I’m sure I’ll find out tomorrow but didn’t see a ton of info in the thread perusing through. Unless I missed it, which wouldn’t be a first.

***Found the 35x12.5 post on @TeCKis300 that addressed those things. Anyone had to do them for 295?
I went to the shop today to get my tires installed and there was some rubbing - enough that they only mounted 1 tire, put my spare on, and sent me home to figure out if I could get the clearance.

I tested the tire on both front wheels and the biggest issue I had to address was the driver's side tire catching on the lower rocker panel cover and popping it out when turning. I hammered the bracket back a little and drilled a new hole in the rocker cover so I could pull it back enough to clear. I also heated up the liner above it and pushed it in to get a bit more clearance. For some reason, the passenger side was fine, though I'm sure I'll want to do the same to get a bit more clearance. The front liners do seem to rub a bit when tuning, but it's not enough that I think I can wait until after the tires are fully mounted.

I also needed the 1" spacers - the tire was hitting the upper control arm without them even pointed straight ahead. I've got an 09 LX with 2016 LC wheels. I got some 1" spacers off Amazon while I wait for a set of BORAs to be made. I don't think I'm going to go with 1.25" because it will just mean more work to clearance the plastics. I'm wondering if I could get away with a .75" spacer.

Mounted and done. Running OEM Lc200 for now, until I decide what wheel I want. Like OEM, but maybe a different flavor.

Mickey Thompson Baja Legend EXP. 1.25 Spidertrax. The mud flap comes off, the bracket had to be pushed back, and then a heat gun to the back liner. Heat gun to the front just a smidge because I wanted to with the clearance I noticed at full compression in the driveway.

Other than that, went off without a hitch. We shall see if I need a little adjusting to the upper liner and such, but won’t know that until I spend a little time on trails out hunting this weekend. Will update when I know.

Now to find time to long travel the AHC, and wait on dissent stuff to get here.

Here's mine after the install today.

First impressions are they feel much firmer than the tires previously on the car. Steering also feels a touch heavier, but that could be due to the spacers. I don’t quite notice an any difference in acceleration in city driving, but braking does feel like it needs more force. There is still some rubbing at full lock in reverse and under brake dive. Looks great, obviously.

For brakes, couple great options to restore braking torque. Can upgrade one or the other, or use together to maximize brake performance.
1. Hawk LTS brake pads
2. Tundra BBK Rotor and Caliper
DIY Tundra Brakes (BBK) - https://forum.ih8mud.com/threads/diy-tundra-brakes-bbk.1222890/

For rubbing, it's likely the forward part of the wheel well liner. Super easy to pin forward, and this strategy is adaptable all the way into 37s.

Mannn I hate you guys, should've never read this thread lol...but here we are, the wheels and tires are on and boy do they look sick. I didn't notice any loss in power nor does the truck struggle going up an incline. The only thing that took a hit was MPG, and it's big, like 2mpg but it is what it is. Braking takes a little bit more effort but it's not drastic, overall, definitely worth it. I clear the mudflap area and body mount by an inch or more so that's not a concern, the front fender liner will need to be moved forward a little more as i get a little rub there when in low mode and doing a U-turn. Normal driving there's no rub.. i think +30 is a great offset to run these tires, maybe +35 but it's hard to find. Anything less and you'll have more problems with rubbing

Wheels are 18x9 et +30mm
295/70/18 BFG KO3
Suspension (stock) not even sensor lifted

Wheels and tires together weigh 90 lbs on my bathroom scale, not that bad !

And this is where it rubs in low when turning wheel all the way, i'll just need to push this liner forward 1/2" and should be good..

Looking good!

bumping this thread. I have a 2008 land cruiser and I have 1.25" spacers. Will be running stock wheels.

thoughts on this size vs 285/70/18. Seems like it's splitting hairs with the 2 tire widths (differences) but want to make sure.

I have NOT relocated my KDSS but plan to soon...

thanks!

Size wise probably not worth splitting hairs but there are tons more options in 295/70

A balanced tire fitment is more than just pushing diameter.

Don't skip leg day.

Back in action with stock wheels and 295/70/18. I’m not getting any rub, and I have a 1.25 inch wheel spacer.

I got a very good deal on a set of recon grappler. Very happy with this set up so far.

You don’t rub because you got that bumper, hehe. I had to push my fender liner forward at least an inch to clear the front of the tire

Any concern about an 18in method wheel 301 with +18 offset fitting 295/70/18s? I'm leaning Falken AT's but open to suggestions.
Just bought a 2013 LX and want to throw on some bigger tires. I found a great deal to pick up a set of 4 method wheels with 18+ offset so i pulled the trigger on them. I see alot of 25+ - 35+ offset stuff on here but nothing at +18 so im curious if i jumped the gun and will now be running into some rubbing issues.
Id like to do a sensor lift and figured i would need to massage some liners and take off mud flaps to make them fit. I got completely stock everything currently and don't want to change out UCA's yet if i don't need to.
Thoughts? Suggestions? Concerns?
Thanks
