As usual, kitchen duties kept me from spending enough time with the ONSC family. No big deal...you put up with me enough here on the forum! I'll simply use this post to express gratitude, hoping I don't leave anybody out (but Friday nights' insomnia means I probably will - don't take it personally).
This was a great weekend for me although my start to it was needlessly delayed. Didn't get to the barn until 5:30pm. Thanks to everybody who helped me unpack and set up before darkness fell.
@lumbee1 was a huge help with the pig. He's been alongside me for the pig prep the last couple of cooks and pretty much took that part over this time. Having both his eyes and mine on the cooker all day allowed me to actually relax and hang out with more people than normal on Saturday. I still had to miss all but the first 10 minutes of Izzy's HiLift class, though.
A giant thanks to @erymer and @blue98stang, along with Ted & Courtney, who volunteered to handle the chow line for the trail workers in the forest. This was the first time we've done this for our crew so I hope y'all were happy with it. I was glad that the weather was conducive to stew - I was really stressing getting an 80*F day with our weird weather this year! PLEASE give us some ideas to do this again next time. We'd love to keep our people happy considering what they're doing.
@alk747triodad (Kenny) & Lydia still deserve the largest thanks, as usual, for opening their property and themselves to us once again. They've never met a stranger. Great people. Thank you so much. Sarah and I love hanging with you guys every chance we get and are thrilled that you make time for us among all the other guests. It's getting hard to come up with new ways to tell you that we all appreciate EVERYTHING you do for this club.
@angerhater is REO Speedwagon. He keeps the fires burning. BTW that might be the dumbest thing I've posted here. Sorry, Shaun, but at least I know you'll get the reference.
I'm not sure who was on the wood cutting crew this time except for @erymer and maybe
@SeanLX. Great job - the log pile is getting smaller.
Lastly, thanks to the people who rocked the kitchen clean up after dinner (I was too exhausted to notice, so sorry), @GLTHFJ60 and
@Fort Knox and
@forrest5000 and
@fourtrax for BOD duties and raffle stuff,
@FJinTegaCay for evening grill duties,
@Izzyandsue for not charging his day job consulting fee for the HiLift class, the trail work crew, all the members who brought someone new, all the new people who came on their own,
@NC LX for having a super cool truck tent setup, anybody who loaned out extra cold weather gear to those who needed it, and each person who came out for either a few hours or a few days. Phew! See you all in September.
EDIT: Additional thanks to everybody who provided food. And to @weejub for the assortment box of actual Kansas City BBQ sauces!
