What do u want to know about the pto? Shifter mounts to trans. I can dig one out sometime. U interested in a floor shifter for a 3 spd or leaving column

Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I537 using IH8MUD

Mine seems to work okay, but it looks to me like I must be missing a piece of the linkage. The linkage bar has a round bit that sits in a slot on the shaft of the PTO gearbox. It can easily just pop out of that slot. Was there some kind of retaining clip at one time?

I do plan to keep the column shift. Since it has the same shift pattern as my dad's old Ford pickup, it's very intuitive for me to drive.

Finally got around to getting the front springs on. Match set of 3" lift all the way around. Hopefully it will have a little more flex than whatever was on there before. Now for the tre's. Hopefully tomorrow.

TRE's done. Wanted to throw on the cruiser lean plate real quick. Apparently I found the wrong torque setting for the centering pin. I was looking forward to a ride tonight. Oh well, there's always tomorrow.

Speaking of work, here is where I am....

Shifter linkages for trans, transfer and hi/lo range blasted and POR'd. Driveshafts, fan shroud and PTO winch blasted and POR'd.

Linkages, driveshafts and cooling system (fan shroud, fan, hoses) finished off.

Steering box disassembled for rebuild. Case and column cleaned and etched for POR.

Kinda scary to think that if not for the rusted out tub, this thing could be back together in time for SMORR!

Been busy between the kid, house, yard stuff, the little red car, buddies vehicle, etc in an effort to have the truck ready to go to SD in a few weeks.

- overhauled winch
- removed ABS servo & re-plumbed brake system
- installed new Photoman pulley on the Sequoia alt
- installed dual battery (finally)
- Fixed exhaust hangers
- fixed rear locker not operating
- modified PS reservoir

I think there are couple more I forgot and I still have a few more things to address but I can see the light and now feel the 100* heat every day.

Brakes as good as any 19 year old 6500lb truck can now.

Smaller diameter on the 150A (really 175A) alternator should help with electrical demands better at low speeds.

Twisted splines = no-go with e-lockers

Need a GTAW machine, welds work but way too much material deposited for a something people can see. Upside....1 Qt capacity.

I need more info on that power steering mod. My power steering started groaning at SMORR, so I am looking to get a rebuilt pump ( I just rebuilt mine and it did not do the trick) also going to rebuild the gearbox while I am at it.

Anyway, where did you get the pipe?

Colin I have a resevior with AN fittings sitting in the garage.

Your local muffler shop that works on big exhaust systems. It'a piece of 3.5" exhaust tubing spliced into the original reservoir with a simple baffle burned in before final assembly. Unless you're using a GTAW I would leave out the plastic baffle/screen or it'll melt when welding the halves together. Also something to consider is weld the top on rather than crimp it back on, my has a slight leak because the gasket is old and stiff which doesn't seal well anymore. At some point his winter it'll come out, get cleaned and burn the top on. All told I think it hold right at or just under a full quart of AFT when it's at the cold mark on the cap.

Anyone have a source for exhaust tubing?

Unless you're in a hurry stop by the various exhaust shops in your area and see if they have 3.5" tubing. One of the locally owned shops here in Wichita gave me a 10" cut-off piece for free. Hell, I offered to pay him but he wouldn't take the $$.

Not on the cruiser yet but got my new to me coilovers rebuilt. Next month installing lift and pulling engine to start diesel install. Lots of little tasks being completed in preparation.

Almost done with my lift. Screwed up a bolt so can't finish it until next weekend but she sure looks pretty. Replaced the ucas shocks front and back. Replaced the spacers for the front sway bar replaced the rear break lines rear springs and lower control arms. Hope to be more adventurous next year at smorr. I'll post picks of the finished lift as soon as I can find this "special" bolt for the driver side uca.
