I ordered the Ironman shackles from the same vendor on eBay. The front shackles have an extra lip near the bolt. Does anyone know which way this thing should be installed? I can post a pic if needed.

Thanks in advance.

Wonder how much they charge for shipping it to Venezuela¿?
I'll try to write him and see the cost including the shipping.

Looks like a sweet deal. Keep the before and after shots coming!

hopefully the ass-high will settle - I don't know if i'd remove a leaf Loeky.

but then again - i dont know squat about lifts...lol

I have an 87 with the Iron lift and am wondering if I should replace the shocks.
I don't know how many miles ago the lift was installed, the PO did not install
the lift. Pretty bouncy ride at low speeds but smooths out on the hwy. If I were
to replace them, what would you go with. 192000 on the odo. Thanks.

The lift is now installed

No big issues with the install beyond the standard PITA, cutting torches are a must to get those old bushings out. I am happy with the ride I just now need bigger tires. I did find out why the old springs handled like poo when loaded half the the right rear spring pack was cracked in the middle. I did use the ironman shackles and installed the front sway bar extenders. Nice kit with all of the proper parts. I can not copare the ride because it was so bad before with original front shocks and worn out cheap ones on the back. I can say the shocks were twice as heavy as the ones I removed. The back does not sit that much higer than the front at not as much as I had feared. Now how do I loosen up the parking brake so it does not drag because the I think the lift tightened up the cable. These are the first pix of the BLU OX on Mud so be nice.

as requested

The pic shows the front shackle of the kit if it is wrong I will go back and change I just took a guess at it. I could not find any info on the Ironman site. This is a lot smoother ride than what I thought. And yes I will be putting 33"s on it soon and getting rid of the chrome wheels that the PO was so proud of.
I was a little happy with the grease that is the black stiff the worked it way out after 50miles, I thought 1 full tube for the truck was too much.

Are sway bar extenders necessary for the ironman lift? I am not going to use extended shackles so would I still need it?

Thanks MJM

That was how I was going to put them on. But no info from Ironman on it.

That is strange how yours doesn't have as much of a rake as mine. Did that steering stabilizer come with the lift or did you add that?

looks good mjm, just curious what that tab on the shackles is for, must be for something... i wonder if it is some sort of anti-inversion tab or something.

loeky0- i used ccot shackles and have more rake than that. maybe the ironman shackles compensate somewhat..

edit: hey mjm how did those shackles come packaged?? do they come apart completely??? any more pics front and rear??

I would say the rake is less than .5" and the truck does not have anything in the back just the spare tire. Even the gas tank was empty b/c I was using torches. I do not know if those tabs are some sort of anti-inversion to me it looks like tabs would not prevent the inversion but would allow an inversion to be pryed apart with ease. The shackels do not come apart completely the side with zerk fitting is pressed into the plate it will come out with some love taps from a BFH though. The black is extra grease that worked its way out. Let me know what type of pix you want of the front end.

Rake

Could one of you measure the the CCOT shackles and will post up the measurements of the ironman stuff. The ironman shackles are very stought the frame pins are a lot more substaintial than OEM. I can say that the confer shackles on my FJ40 are tougher than the ironman stuff but I doubt I will brake any of them.

the truck looks great

those shackles look like belton's front anti inversion. I think they are upside down and on the wrong side (switch driver to passanger)

Loeky,

Mine has a huge rake compared to all that I have seen here. I have no other parts other than what came with the lift (leaf packs, sway bar extesion, bushings and shocks). I am running stock shackles.

Lonelydriver,

Sway bars are never required, if you use your Cruiser as a daily driver you want to leave it connected. If you just wheel it on the weekend you will have better articulation without it.
