2" Ironman Lift

Finally got the Ironman installed. I was one of the people who purchased this on eBay way back when. But deployments and training have kept me away from any real work. But a buddy and I pulled it into the shop one night and just went to town on it.

First, holy cr@p were those frame pins hard to get out. We finally resorted to the torch for the rear end. That went much faster. Other that a few banged knuckles and alot of grime, this was a pretty straight forward job. Other than replacing the fuel pump, I have yet to do much to the cruiser in the year that I've owned it. I have the rebuild kit for the knuckles and a new master cylinder and caddy calipers for the back. All in good time.

Anyway, I just thought I'd post a quick before and after pic. It sits a bit high in the rear, but I don't really mind the look. Oh yeah, and I put new rubber and wheels to go with the lift.

any comments on how the ride is w/ the overload springs removed?

I usually drive without any load in the back and it's too stiff w/ out any weight.

I have been driving mine lately w/ one full length leaf removed from each pack. Ride is MUCH nicer. rode like an oxcart before. Now it rides like a stockish vehicle, only a little bit taller.

Just installed an ARB bumper, 8K winch, second batt. Now the front end is a little too droopy, so the front leaves will be reinstalled to see if the ride quality is OK w/ all the extra weight.

Whilst not a crusier, I had a 2" Iornman lift on a Ford Raider (Mazda b2600 with wagon body and rebadged Ford). The only problem was the wrong bushes were sent. Got it sorted overnight without a problem. I maybe in Australia but live some 680 miles away so overnight was not too bad.

Flex was quite good and I think it is just a matter of matching the spring stiffness (light/medium/heavy) with your intended use.
