Do you have pics of the drain plugs condition?

I do now!
Here's the front:

And the rear:

I have a fluid pump that I have used in situations Ike yours. You can pump the fluid out from the fill hole. These hand pumps are about $7 from an auto parts store. Not sure this helps you, but an idea.

The build is looking good 1MAC. Subscribed.

I had another busy day today! Stripped and painted the oil pan that looks so bad in the earlier picture. Also stripped and painted the oil filter canister, bellhousing and some other smaller engine parts. Took off the water neck and polished it for a little bling.
Put in the proper air rail plugs and got rid of the crimped/JB Welded air rail tubes.

Did some prep work on the rolling chassis for sandblasting: Removed the vent tubes from the axles and plugged the holes with bolts. Drained the differentials and removed the bump stops. Took off the rear brake lines and disassembled the rear brakes.

Went to the local Toyota dealer and ordered a thermostat and some other small parts just to break in my new TLCA discount!

All I have to do now is to put on some old wheels and tires and haul it off to the blaster!

Hope to have a new tow vehicle soon.

Can't wait to see the frame cleaned up.

I'm hoping to get the frame hauled to the blaster in the next week or two, but I'm determined to finish the engine ancillaries first. I planned to repaint and use my 4-blade metal fan, even though everybody says they'll eventually fail and go off like a grenade. I just really want to keep the vintage feel of the early cruisers. Unfortunately, when I started inspecting it prior to painting, I found this:

A big freaking crack! Looks like I caught this just in time. I'll pick up a plastic fan and the proper spacer and do it the safe way.

I'm one step closer to getting the chassis to the sand blaster. Traded my wimpy daily driver for something that can pull a trailer:

Nice ride!

Doesn't take much to squat the arse end of an FJC, huh?

Roller looks good cleaned up. Can't wait to be at that point.

No, it doesn't.

Especially when you put all the weight forward of the trailer's axles like a dummy! I did a much better job for the ride home.

Pulled the receiver off mine after one trip with an empty 16' trailer.

Have a tow vehicle and it drug on everything, anyway.

Question.

Did they blast as its shown or remove tires?

I had planned to pull everything from frame and take in pieces, but that looks a lot easier.

Those are my junk wheels/tires that are just used for jobs like this. He was able to blast everything as seen. He just tipped it up on its side to blast the bottom of everything. Saves him time and me money!

I got my frame back from the blaster! Stripped it down, degreased, etched and coated it with 2 coats of POR-15. Also coated the axles and started installation of an OME suspension kit. Would have been really nice if MAF had included instructions for the lift kit!

All new tie rod ends swapped in and I pounded out the old diff drain plugs and put in new magnetic plugs.

Just need to install the shackles and the rest of the steering, then I'll finish painting the front axle and steering rods.

That is looking great. You are moving fast on it!
