ON December 2017 I posted this thread

It was winter time and I didn't like the temperature I was reading on my OBD and the dry contact thermometer installed on the engine head.

When the hot season came it was impossible to drive with AC on, The AC will cut off and the temp would pick to 221 F on steep trails, on the road I got at 80mph 210

If you look at my build thread you will see that all the Heating/Cooling system was OEM and new, except for the parts like PHH bypass that i got from @NLXTACY, the thermostat was non OEM cooler 176 vs 180 OEM, and the new radiator I installed was CSF 2517 copper radiator.

Coolant is allwayes Toyota Red

I added hood louver and at September 2018 I did after consulting with @Tools R Us I finally did :

Blue Fen Clutch mode 30K 50ml 40 C

New Toyota OEM electrical AC electrical fan

Extra SPAL electrical fan manual controlled

It was winter and everything was honey and milk the temp was 180-190 with picks 194 this i liked very much.

The last two expeditions were in the extreme level in desert hot temp of 104 F i got on the highway up to 203F and in one case on the trail I got 217F for a minute or two. This I didn't like so much.

So today we went to work @Tools R Us suggested The CSF rad is not suitable for extreme desert conditions and he has good experience with TYC 1918 so I yanked my new CSF out pored all the coolant to the ground and put new TYC

I yanked out the non OEM thermostat and replaced with OEM one.

Dang it, I was hoping for "and now my temps are...."

I had a CSF while I lived in central California where the temps you see and hotter happen regularly during summer so I can tell you that you will be happy with the difference in engine temps with your new gear.

The info and temps you posted about the CSF are pretty much identical to my CSF experience.

I noticed a big difference going from a CSF to a TYC. Got tired of my modified temp gauge reading mid range (189*F) at best in the summer. Now it reads mid range or a needle's width over in extreme heat and stress on engine. I don't hesitate to use A/C anymore. That's with full armor and 35's. Thanks to @Tools R Us and the AZ guys for recommending the TYC!

It's amazing how very different places can look similar. We don't have much as barren as the first pix, but this one could pass for places here.
I counted four tree’s in 300 posts.

We have some trees (around 10) in Israel, The new city Trump Heights is in a natural forest. :(

Israel in the bible time was covered by forests with black bears, tigers and lions, but 450 years of Turkish Ottoman occupation left the country without no trees they were used to fire the Ottoman steam trains and to many black goats.

From the early 1900s reforesting by the KKL-JNF (Keren Kayemeth LeIsrael-Jewish National Fund) and took hold especially mid-way through the century and forward. Since 1948, around 240 million trees have been planted in Israel (with consideration given to match species and regional ecosystems)

Most of the trees were Pines and this trees burn like crazy the solution was cows so all the forest in the north are cowboy land with thousands of cow gates you need to open and close, and a lot of cow dung, not cool LOL

Tested today in up the mountains and the highway 85 miles per hour very hot day no more overheating :bounce:

AC on all the time full blast

Most of time under normal load 88C - 190F

Under load 91C - 195F
Behavior of the rig like normal rig no more ups and downs with temp max at 212F and cools down when rig idles and not moving.

the rig in stop light now will go from 190F to 195F and go down back 190F when on the move again normal .

I am happy  . Thank you @Tools R Us

 I have nothing against desert dwellers (US or anywhere). It's just not for me. I enjoy our PNW weather and trees...... long as they don't burn.
Warning This is an important tech thread -this mag is on trees and not tech!
@retrofive You are from Oregon? I follow this guy "Coyote works" on YouTube for some time he is from Oregon too, I enjoy the landscape and homestead hunt and you do have trees there. The first time the guy takes is fancy saw and axe and start cutting trees for firewood I started to sweat and calling him bad names and then I relaxed oooh he is in a civilized country not in a hell hole like Israel. Because in my country this guy can go to jail for that. Trees are protected by law, if you go 4X4 and you want a camp fire at night you better bring your firewood with you, you are not allowed to use even dead wood because it is a food for animals rodents and bugs. You are not allowed to cut a tree down even on your private property without a permit!

We love trees so our enemies in the last 18 moths burn them with a sophisticated weapon, incinerating balloons, and when the stock of the balloons finished they started using condoms instead.

This video made me cry father and son trying to save part of their wheat field a few days before harvest by plowing around the fire until the tractor tires melted.

It's really sad to hear about the tree situation in Israel. I couldn't imagine not being around trees having grown up and lived in the PNW.

I cut around 5 cords (3.6 cubic meters) of firewood from our forests here in Oregon each year (tech - the cruiser pulls the trailer and sometimes the wood). I wouldn't say our supply is "unlimited" but we have enough to last a while.

Forgive my ignorance, but what is the diff between a TYC vs CSF vs an OEM brass vs OEM alum radiator? Is a TYC similar to either of the two OEM radiators?

Interesting read. My midwest cruiser is moving from Denver to California. I’m concerned when I see 203 temps, and turn off ac. Never really considered CSF as I’m all about OEM but it sounds like it makes good sense. Especially out west. Today in Canyonlands I had temp of 207 and intake of 151. Hot!
