North American Parts Center, California.

This is the "Japan Warehouse" where all Japanese parts come into the US and then distributed to the rest of the network. And this is where most Land Cruiser parts live.

There is no way to ascertain that in a general sense since each engine is a specific project with specific needs.

If you are serious about entertaining an engine rebuild, please contact me directly.

That engine gasket kit is not even close to the total number of gaskets and seals needed to R and R a 1FZ-FE.

Can confirm. Every time i thought i had everything i ended up emailing Onur again.
Would work with him again. 10/10 made my life easier.

I did a full rebuild last winter/spring.
Based on your questions i HIGHLY recommend you spend a few DAYS reading through threads and information on here. There is more than you could ever need to fix/take apart/build on here.
I too was very new to Mud when i started but learned a lot in the process. Happy to help if i can.

Here's my thread:

Builds - Wompom's Painfully Slow Rebuild(It's Seized) Full Engine Rebuild

I did it in 2016, spent alot of time on things that weren't broke but replaced anyway. Definitely recommend a cooling system overhaul, injectors sent off for rebuild, check all harness connections while its out and clean and grease or replace. Look into whether you want to take tranny out at same time or remove just the block . Surprises: the strength needed to get the cam out with breaker bar. get yourself some good tools especially wobble heads, and extensions as well as a good torque wrench. Figure out a labeling and organizing system with bags or boxes or whatever. Give your self more space than you think to separate, store and keep things. Looking back i wish I had purchased a parts washer too. And take your time. I had a good time with mine and wouldn't hesitate to do it again.

i did a complete rebuild last year for one of my rigs so let me throw some insight after spending some time on the phone with Onur.

i got the engine used from a buddy and it needed to have the crank turned on a broken piston messed up the walls bad.

i used a local shops that does a ton of forklift engines for the factories in the engine. when i show up with it he instantly knew it was a 1FZ but thought it odd the thing didnt have a cast iron head lol.

they punched it out and went with DNJ pistons and used clevite bearings. everything else came from Beno. a full rebuild kit was around the 700 mark with shipping and had everything i needed plus extras. the 1FZ-FE engine stickwe and TEQ oil cap he included are nice touches.

i went with ARP head studs while i was in there. if you have questions just send me a message and i can help you out with things we did.

i have also just slapped new bearings in them, run a hone in the cylinders, tossed on new rings and put them back in the truck the same week i pulled it.

I try to educate people to learn and understand how Toyota as a system works. I like to tho k of it as how to parts “fish”.....

Once you understand the numbering logic and the supplier logic, the entire world of Toyota opens up. Like a kaleidoscope.

I try to provide facts whenever possible that I know to be the case of affairs. The factual truth.

Hence the part number and availability. Any online source will provide you with a price that is relatively acceptable to the cross-section of owners.

Rebuilding an engine is a learning experience and it can be fun, but if you aren't paying attention to detail and make a mistake, you can have a $4,000 pile of junk.

I stopped rebuilding them myself a long time ago because I don't really enjoy it any more and it doesn't save that much money in my view. If I can't get a crate engine, I have my machinist rebuild it for me. He gets to pick the parts, since he is warrantying his work.

Good info. I’ve rebuilt many American V8’s. But what I’m gathering here is that finding the right kit for my 1FZ isn’t as easy as finding a kit for my old Ford 351.

I appreciate the advice and the resources...lots of things I haven’t thought of. I really don’t feel like she needs a full rebuild...a set of rings and bearings would be nice. I look forward to doing some research and diggin in.

I'm in the process of acquiring a long block with a bottom end knock to serve as the basis to do a complete build on, while I have built my fair share of engines over the years I'm the first to admit my knowledge on the 1FZ platform is very little so I think I'll be penning an email to @beno in the not too distant future.
