God damn this thing is so sick. Just amazing work all around.
Thanks. Very happy with how this has turned out.

I have a plane ticket booked. Will fly out August 12 and leave on August 16. The plan is to do a little shakedown trip and get a decent feel for the truck. I know there are a few little changes to be made so we should be able to get a handle on those changes. @SNLC will then take the truck back and complete the final details. I will just have the truck shipped back from that point.

Weighed the Cruiser , 6550lbs with no rear seats or gear in it.

So took the Cruiser out today to log some miles and break in driving time. Even hit the dirt a little.

No issues, no leaks, no codes and an absolutely fun Cruiser to drive! 😎

Cheers

Despite all the extra effort/thought/excellence that has gone into this build, that 1HD-FTE/H152 combo makes this build a game changer. Congrats to all you guys involved in the build, that's an incredible testament to how strong the LC community is there in the states👍

@SNLC is the 152 just an electronic management compatible 151? Really want to do a manual swap for my 1HDT someday, but I’d always heard the 151 was the way to go…

@Sonofaskipper they are similar. The H152 has a lower 1st gear and a higher 5th gear. I wanted a new transmission and could not locate a brand new diesel H151. So we got a new H152 and swapped over input shafts to make it work with the FTE. The H152 is a recent offering for the VDJ trucks.

If you have ever driven an old GM or Dodge with the NV4500 it is very similar to the H152. At least for 1st, 4th and 5th. 1st is definitely a granny gear. In 4L it is going to awesome for crawling.

The drive yesterday was through the mountains and along the rivers. Also a pretty good climb up a steep dirt road, for that 2nd is perfect. Cruising speed 45-60mph on curvy up and down paved roads. 4th gear for all of that and the FTE easily pulls from 35mph to 60mph in 4th.

RPMs at 65mph are at 2,000.

Cheers

This build is just the cleanest. I’ve spent some serious money on my HDJ recently. This is on another level entirely, I’m sure. And to my mind, worth every penny.

Beautiful build mate. What kind of milage are you getting on the FTE on the freeway?
Not sure yet. @SNLC and I were discussing that issue yesterday. The truck seems to be doing very well - as of yesterday it was still above 3/4 after 150 miles. I was hoping for all around 18 mpg but would also like to pleasantly surprised. The cruising RPMs are pretty low.

Still on first tank and the driving is extremely varied right now.

I am seeing no issues with 400-500 a tank, it’s running an FZJ80 tank which I think is the same size as the diesel 80’s.

Cheers

Cracked 200 miles today.
