Ya seen that done before and it is nice giving many more choices for speakers. However...

So we drilled off the 440 shifter bracket and moved it over to the 343 assembly. This is the 343 after removing it.

Then assembled our “hybrid” shifter which uses parts from both.

Looking forward to the final install pics with these. Can you still use the factory grills?

The stock grills will not work, these are 6.5” speakers.

UPDATE

Ian keeps sending me links of stuff to order and I do it. Mostly things like new adjustable control arms and panhard rods....steering links.

@TrekboxX is finished up and I believe the drawers shipped out today.

I had been debating on changing on the suspension but I think we are just going to see how the truck performs once it is back on the road.

Small world. Going through the thread thinking it was an impressive build and notice that you're in Miccosukee. I'm about a 10 minute ride here in East Tallahassee. Been a Jeep guy since day one, but am on the hunt for an FZJ80. Shoot me a message if you know of any others around. Maybe we can meet up at Red Barn for a beer some day...

Cheers,
Tyler

+1 for prep and paint details. 🙋‍♂️

If condition of factory paint is good, I just clean clean clean. Then, tape it all, scuff with red 3M pad and spray. I use a high quality epoxy, flat black is my choice. That is what this got.

If factory paint is not good or there is rust, I sand blast it all and paint.

With any painting, prep is important. It is a multi stage process for me which starts by de-greasing with simple green. Then washed with a light soapy water. I use an actual paint prep wax and grease remover before paint, no brake cleaner.

Cheers

We also got a ton of other goodies in, I will let pics do the talking as progress happens but they are mostly chassis parts.

More to come this week.

Cheers

Finished knuckle and wheel bearing rebuild, tomorrow front brakes and more.

By the way this truck has amazing knuckle balls, no grooves on them at all.
