Bought this thing a few months back from Lukas at Aussie Troopies USA out of Bend, Oregon. This is what it looked like when it ended up at Fit Garage for some work.

I live in North Carolina, so the plan was to have some work done by the guys at Fit Garage, fly out to Bend and then drive it all the way back. Of course, taking the long way back.

Weird aluminum bumper, roof rack, seats and 8000 kilos of weird Australian wiring were among the fist things to go. ARB bumper was also added to the mix fairly quickly. A little nervous about having the roof rack cut off but they have done so many, it wasn’t a big deal.

Having done a fair bit of traveling with another rig, I was pretty sure about what exactly I wanted. Lots of stuff was already at FG waiting to install.

Come up winch, Baja LP6’s, roof mounted solar, switches and some Victron electrical control components and a battle born battery were installed. A nice little touch from FG was installing a small Baja Designs light inside the electrical panel.

Also pulled the trigger on some suspension upgrades as well.

Dog was not included, but it loved me more than it has ever loved another human.

Scheel-man seats that also have heat, we’re fitted. Solid choice for long hours in the seat.

I didn’t mention the Alucab, but it was probably obvious when we cut the roof off… Anyways, it has an Alucab Hercules.

Coexist sticker was added as well. +10 survival on the west coast.

FG did a lot of maintenance type things, bearings, water pump, belts , new fluids/filters, new radiator, EGT and Boost Gauges, probably more stuff that I can’t remember right now.

Finally getting around to changing these nasty black out tail light covers. Required some harness extensions and some but honestly, the harnesses needed some new wiring anyways.

I am also going to start posting all the PN’s used when I’m working on something. Hopefully help the next dude out.

Turns out, the right side of the truck must have had some sort of impact on the right side, the tail light does not seat perfectly into place.

Also discovered my first rust spots on the rig…

Lol that’s a crazy rust spot. They all rust but yours looks great. Surprised you found that.

Yeah, just going to clean it up and rust convert it for now probably.
I’d do the same. The rust you know is better than the rust you don’t.

Have also been slowly going through all of the lights and electrical components one at a time. The drivers side light required the removal of the air box and the washer fluid reservoir. Also gave me a chance to check out the inside of the fenders. Looks pretty good considering the age. PN’s again for reference.

She's right mate. I'm over in TN considering an identical 1995 and will be watching this.

Is that the original radio antenna from Aus? What frequency do you use it with here?

I never saw those little fender-ettes before. I know Aus is nuts about tires extending past the fenders.

Thanks for any and all part numbers.

It is the original antenna. Currently it is not hooked up to anything and I do not use the radio. I instead opted for a double din touch screen with apple car play.
