I vote no on the black grill. I love the black grill on a white Cruiser, but a black grill on blue and grey/silver is like trying to wear brown shoes with a black suit.

Wheels have to go IMO.

They look classic 1980's Japanese cheese.
Didn't these rims survive into the early 90's on the 80 Series?

Hello Charles,

Congratulations on your new Cruiser.

Juan
Thanks .....
Hopefully I'll have some updated photos in a couple of weeks.

Taste and style are very personal - to paraphrase an old George Carlin line - "I have stuff, you have crap"

With that as a disclaimer, here is what I would do:

Grille - later grille and corner lights. Chrome is too bling, I think.

Wheels - The 15" factory mags are fine, but they date the rig. Would upgrade with 16" Taco or 17" FJC steelies in medium gray powder coat - like the 75 but a little lighter. Save the mags for a couple of decades, then you can go retro. :)

While I'm always receptive to opinions and occasion actually seek them, there is a 99% chance that the rims, parking lights, and grill will be remaining on the Cruiser. I went through a great deal of effort to purchase a "1990 HZJ77" because I like the looks of a "1990 HZJ77". I don't however like the front porch bumper so it will be changed.
Hopefully everyone can understand and maybe even appreciate my "old school" approach.

Minus the bumper, this is my inspiration.

Just curious....the OEM and Safari snouts are quite a bit different - why the choice - increased capacity, inlet style, etc.?

It came in the box. :)

I think Onur culda got an OEM unit..... :)
I assumed (perhaps incorrectly) that the OEM snorkel would have been far more expensive. My build budget is already being assaulted on a daily basis.

If you like the rims keep them. Not a lot of options if you don't want spacers but want the rim to be aluminum and 16".

Curious to see what tires you decide on to finish your achieved "look"
