The front channel on mine is aluminum and I think the guys just bent it by hand to match curve.

Do you have any pictures of it on the rig without the top on?

I have the jeep style for the bikini top, but that’s flat and has a plastic guide that goes in. Im not sure what that channel is called, I’m googling away.

Edit: Found this for a bronco, this might be the ticket to add on.

That’s aluminium rope/sail track. Comes in quite a few profiles, thicknesses and powder coat colours or paint yourself.
EBay has it and aluminium shops over here sell it by the length. Depending on thickness I’ve seen people put small curves in it for trailer and canopy builds. Some profiles even have end caps.
Double lip could be tapered at front?

This one has a nosing but might be hard to bend. A press might solve that?

Exactly, here in the US Sailrite is a great resource for that kind of stuff and heaps of fasteners and material.

That’s the and of it! I knew I had seen in on boats or tarps I was just blanking then name.

That should work great. Just bolt it to the current piece and the should keep it from bending and letting the top come out. Thank you !

I knew it 😊 I’ve been on that site before for other things, great resource. Thank you. Even bendable on a video the show. Now to think of the right piece/angle.

Had some mowing to do at our rental. It’s only around 2400lbs but that ramp sticking up in the bad always acts like a big drag.

The wind didn’t help but I think I need to turn the fuel up. 62mph was a little struggle although I wasn't pushing it hard. Flat roads. 800F egt, 14-15psi.

During my mowing adventure I had to go get some gas for the mower. Luckily it’s only 4 gallons of ethanol free 💰

Dude pulls up in a mid 00s suburban lifted with a roof rack, a conversation ensues…

Dude: bro, that thing is sick!
Me: thank you, it’s pretty cool.
Dude: man I was following you from the stop and all I heard was

IMG_4795.gif

That turbo sounds awesome!

Me: yeah 😂

Dude: is that from Europe or something? Sweet toyota…(more small talk about he’s a car guy and just loves cool vehicles).

Me: thanks I appreciate that!

Dude as he drives off:

As I’m chuckling away walking in the gas station to grab a stubby, humming men at work (is that cultural appropriation?)

The checkout lady is excited to talk to me:

Checkout lady: Man! You should have heard that dude talking about your vehicle! He’s a local car guy and just loves yours. He just kept on going

IMG_4795.gif

Me: 😂 that’s a great impression!

So the cruiser strikes up so many conversations and makes me laugh at other people’s reaction to it. It’s usually a positive, but some times if I’m in a hurry, that’s usually when everyone wants to talk. It’s a good day when I get to talk cruisers and multiple ric flair “wooooos” thrown my way.

Here’s to you Land Cruiser I Love/hate/love/annoyed/love/stupidleak!

Is this now the "Nature Boy" thread? 🤣

My thread is like a stream of consciousness trainwreck…

Changing oil on the GX and tinkering with the cruiser. Shop was showing nearly 80 degrees…I need to find a big shop fan, the beer fridge works good, but too many of those barley pops to cool down creates other issues.

IMG_4810.webp

Took the plug out of the water outlet on the thermostat housing and installed the water temp sensor. I still have the other one on the bolt, but I’d really like to know the actual temp.

IMG_4811.webp

Test drive, yes it’s convenient…I said it!

IMG_4817.webp

After pulling back in and slowing down.

IMG_4818.webp

It’s 86 degrees, windy and I was only going 65 for about 5 minutes. Trip into town and back so not pushing hard. On the highway it finally stabilized out at 187F on the gauge which is right around the 88c temp the thermostat opens. On the way in it was bouncing off the thermostat 182 to 187 back and fourth.

What was the stock gauge showing at that temp?

I understand the stream.

I had too many barley pops to cool down and took the dog for a tractor ride. It’s not the coveted kubota tractor, but it has a Mitsubishi motor so…

Wait, you have a cooling problem? Can’t help, give it a beer 🍻 🤣

Sorry, no tech here, just continuing the stream of conscious train wreck

I’ve got the kubota 4wd/loader but it’s a 1995 and unfortunately my big mini horse dog won’t fit on it!

I’m all for the little to no tech…means things are running right!

Like 1/4 up as always. I’ve only ever seen it ever so slightly above that mark…I think. It’s pretty hard to confirm but it always in the same spot.
Mine typically runs at about 3/8 above "C" when at full operating temperature. I have seen slightly above 1/2 when pulling a 3,300 pound trailer up a couple nasty Colorado passes. I was in low range and 3rd gear at about 2,500 rpm.

My pyrometer probe is post-turbo and I have seen loaded temperatures around 1,100 degrees F. I back out and try to stay below 1,000 F. Downshifting accomplishes that.

I have seen debates about pre-turbo and post-turbo probe mounting and what temperatures to expect...

I'm still confused.

Nice, I imagine 3300 is a pretty good load for these in reality. Especially with bigger/heavier wheels/tires. I mean we are starting with allegedly 120hp at the crank so…

1,100 post turbo to me feels a little hot, but there is really no way to tell for sure. I’d think you never want to go over that at all.

It appears I still have room to turn up the fuel.
