Mine does that too, especially when I hit a bump in the road. I’ve triple and quadruple checked my connections, pretty sure it is an internal fault. Interestingly, mine is a double gauge and only the channel I have hooked up to the coolant temp is faulty, the EGT channel works just fine.
Interesting. My gauge has been in place for about 4 years with no issues until recently. Wonder if it is a sender fault vs. gauge? Further investigation required and perhaps a call out to Auber.

Yeah I think it kinda sounds like a cold solder on yours or something if it’s bumps. I feel like programming or something on mine. It does it a few times a year and a simple unhook resets it.

Yeah my boost is much more common with shows 28.1 and a cycle of the key resets it to work.
Honestly they work but I don’t have the most faith in them. I know mechanical gauges gonna as well, but I think it’s much less often.

If these mess up again, I will Probabaly look at mechanical isspro or something.

Moonlight photos? Yeah not so great on an iPhone…

No real projects on the cruiser, too busy with other projects.

Timing belt, radiator and thermostat on my 2006 tundra. The belt was 9 years old and 110k and looked and felt brand new.

Seized compress on my wife’s sienna…that sucked. Expansion valve behind intake…rear one tucked in blower

Makes me appreciate the simplicity of my cruiser….sure it’s not a leather couch with reclining chairs, widescreen tv, hauling 7
People comfortably at 85mph getting 23mpg….but it’s sure a lot cooler!

Getting ready for a longer work trip than last time! Planning my route in Wyoming.

Thought id at least post the lyrics to the Land CruZar song 😂

How Many Ks?
Goin’ down town in my LandCruZar
Tryin’ to find a park for my LandCruZar
This carpark was made for a car
Not the turning circle of a LandCruZar.
Then I met Mick in his mesh-back cap
He’s got two stripes on his mesh-back cap
He’s got conveyor for my new mudflap
No better man for a bit of mudflap
I says ‘Mick’, he goes ‘Yeah’, I go

CHORUS
‘How many ks on your LandCruZar?’
‘I got two fiddy on my LandCruZar’
‘It’s just run in that LandCruZar’
‘You put a million clicks on a LandCruZar’.

Fly in’ down the Battlecamp road
Just ran over another cane toad
Foot flat to the floor and down a hill
See if the old girl’s got it still
Look at the dash, gotta shake me head
I’m over the limit in me 1hZ.
But I heed the law and I slow right down
Cops pull me up comin’ into town
I know this fella, it’s Sergeant Dan
He says ‘You got any contraband?’
I say ‘Nah mate, not me, I’m all kosher
You might find a soggy Bunnings brochure
Or an ant’s nest in a 4X can
But you won’t find any contraband’.
He found some wing ding bones from a trip to Cairns
He says ‘Awh now I gotta go wash me hands
But there’s one thing that I’d like to know
Just before I let you go’
He goes ‘Steve’, I go ‘Yeah’, he goes

Chorus
‘How many ks on your LandCruZar?’
‘I got two fiddy on my LandCruZar’
‘It’s just run in that LandCruZar’
‘You put a million clicks on a LandCruZar’.
Yeah nah Cru-Zar parts are never too far
When you’re driving round on the PDR
Ain’t no need for a torsion bar
Got a solid front diff on my LandCruZar.
The Irish barmaid’s mouth was ajar
When she saw the mud on my LandCruZar
We pull our seats into the bar
She came back with a cold schooner
She said ‘Lads’, we said ‘Yeah’, she goes

Chorus
‘How many ks on your LandCruZar?’
‘I got two fiddy on my LandCruZar’
‘It’s just run in that LandCruZar’
‘You put a million clicks on a LandCruZar’
‘What do you pay for a LandCruZar?’
‘You might pay a little bit more than a car’
‘Well I think that I might upgrade from a car’
‘They hold their value the LandCruZar, ah, ah, ah, LandCruZar’.

Every single Cru-Zar got a dud handbrake
Every two weeks you gotta fix your handbrake
A Patrol’s way better than a LandCruZar
Patrol got a better handbrake by far
The missus says ‘Trade that LandCruZar’, I say
‘Babe a Patrol’s not a LandCruZar’.

Trace pulls up in a smoko van
She got a sweet Tojo for a smoko van
You say: ‘Ah curry pie, tomato sauce
Kabana with cheese, tomato sauce
Thanks Trace’. You get chattin
You go ‘Trace’, she goes ‘Yeah’, you go
Chorus

‘How many ks on your LandCruZar?’
‘I got two fiddy on my LandCruZar’
‘It’s just run in that LandCruZar’
‘You put a million clicks on a LandCruZar, ah, ah, ah, LandCruZar’.

why do i hear these old faulks rapin this in my head....

Fresh oil change before my trip.

IMG_2996.webp

Had to go rescue my son. Ever since the timing belt change, the alternator has been acting up. It doesn’t really charge until you high rev and then it charges normally. Maybe I crimped or broke the excitor wire…

Cruiser to the rescue.

Heading out tomorrow on a trip.

Heading out tomorrow on a trip.
My Prado alternator does the same thing, I suspect it has to do with how the VW harness was wired up. I have to rev the engine to about 1600rpm to get it to start charging, then it does just fine at idle.

Interesting. It was working like normal until the timing belt change. Only thing I can think is a messed up a wire somehow.

Road/work trip.

Nothing screams efficient long distance work commuter like a mid wheel base 70 series right? I mean if I’m getting mileage, why not?

The first leg of my work trip was about 300ish miles and with stops, food and backroads took me like 5ish hours.

Couple hour stop and run across this.

Yep…

IMG_2999.webp

Next quick stop was around Guernsey Wyoming. Known for a stop on the Oregon trail, register cliff is a spot travelers knew they were on the right path.

There are also wagon trail ruts you can see carved into the stone. Pretty amazing as this was a fairly steep passage.

These guys we the OG “oveuereländereres” heavy wagons carrying way too much crap.

I went to Guernsey to watch the eclipse years ago. Saw those wagon ruts. Pretty incredible when you think about it, the sheer number of people going over that thing and how tough they were doing being so far away from "civilization".

Yeah it’s pretty wild to think about. It’s out in the middle of nowhere. The tracks they took at no joke.

Nothing like driving 20 minutes out of the way to avoid the interstate and get better views.

Next stop Casper

IMG_3080.webp

Windy. That is all. I was more excited for the next day heading up to Worland.

Casper is basically the center of the state and nothing else is really close. Close to 3 hour one way day trip.

More pictures of nothing.

Found a few spots of color.

IMG_3043.webp

On the southern side is Boyson reservoir. Pretty good sized for fishing, boating. 76 miles of shoreline.

IMG_3059.webp

Also hells half acre is on the way.

Hell’s Half Acre is located in Natrona County, Wyoming, and is a 320-acre park characterized by its jagged formations and caves. Native peoples of the past used the region for the herding and slaughtering of buffalo by utilizing its many narrow canyons. At the time of its visitation by the U.S in 1833, the ground could be seen giving off sulfur fumes due to underground fires. After appearing on postcards labeled as Hell’s Half Acre, the site gained its current name.

Shocker I took a photo without the cruiser.

It might look familiar to some of you…

The alien planet scenes on Starship Troopers were filmed here.

Before I headed out, there was a discount tire close by. Stopped by and got the tires balanced and rotated. The guys seemed to like it. 1 young man had an 80 series he’s replacing a head gasket on and his dad has an FJ62.

IMG_3079.webp

75mph, only for a few minutes, it’s happier at 65.

IMG_3085.webp

Then the wind got BAD from the side. My soft top started pulling out the sides. The Velcro couldn’t hold. They actually had a closure on i25 because of wind right where I was going. I don’t have the upfront metal bars that would Probabaly prevent this, but it hasn’t been an issue for years. I need to sort that out.

I was tired of stopping to fix the top and just pulled the sides and put a hoodie on.

One more stop at Ft Laramie. This military built iron bridge was built in 1875. Used heavily in
The Sioux wars.

IMG_3087.webp
IMG_3088.webp

One last stop to pickup some Frenchies…deep friend grilled cheese, super healthy.

IMG_3091.webp

Couldn’t finish without a sunset…
IMG_3092.webp

Overall, great trip from the cruiser. A little bit over 1000miles pretty much all at 65mph.

I got 23mpg on the way up there. I haven’t had a chance to fill up to figure this last tank but just looking at numbers I think it’s the same or more.
