And the collector import car market.

As an example: 33030-60450 has a MSRP for $3063.30

With the new part tariff, that unit will be $3828.75. If we then add the steel and aluminum tariff on top of that ( I don't know if the 25% steel and aluminum tariff applies to finished goods), then a new H55F goes to $4594.50

There goes the parts market as well. Game over for most shops that build Land Cruisers.

EDIT: Sorry Ben. This discussion really should be someplace else. I'll stop muddying your thread. Apologies.

Fortunately, TMNA is going to be levied the tariff on their cost of the part (pre shipping cost) not the MSRP. So while it will undoubtedly bump prices on many, many, many Land Cruiser parts we deal with, it ideally be more like a 10-20% total price increases. We've been discussing this in the vendor section and as you can imagine there is great uncertainly but I'm hearing ok things from some of our vendors. One out of Japan (with US warehousing we source from) had this to say: "Price adjustments will be effective June 01, 2025. The increase will range from 2% to 8% on average depending on the items. Some prices will remain the same. We really don’t have many products coming from China, but some of the raw materials used by the production plants in Japan went up". Another had this to say about orders placed out of their US warehouse: "Due to recent tariffs implemented by the United States Government, we will be increasing our prices by 7% effective April 1st, 2025. I don't love the fact they are applying the 7% on April 1 as pricing doesn't change until May 1 but I'm glad it's 7% rather than that 10-20%. Now, that's not to say some manufactures and importers may use this as an opportunity just to bump a full 25% or greater, increasing their profit margin even more. We'll have to wait and see. In the meantime, my rainy day H55F stores are deep :D

I’m naturally a pessimist. I don’t see that panning out for too long.

I'm the optimist, I'm banking on tarriffs rolling back, manufactures absorbing more, myself absorbing my share, customer willing to absorb some. But yeah, it's ugly. Add to this the number of parts (Genuine OEM and aftermarket stuff) getting discontinued more frequently as of late and it's admittedly exhausting.

👍👍💪💪

Let’s return to regularly scheduled @FJBen truck fun.

Good stuff all. Good perspectives.

I have a “PT” battery tray on the way from cruiser outfitters. That’s (pre-tariff) 😆

On the drive over tonight to help my daughter do her taxes…😉

Big tech: my boost lights are acting a little funky. Green isn’t coming on until higher psi then seems to work ok although still not normal. Orange seems to work good.

I’m guessing those solenoids might be getting dirty or just failing.

Once you put that pre-tariff battery in, does your 70 Series become….

a PT Cruiser???

I had an issue with my indicators one time. The problem was self-inflicted. In my (24 volt) truck the pressure switches are located at the right inner fender in between the inner and outer fender. The vacuum lines that connect to them run very near the battery trays. I replaced the batteris and I managed to pinch one of the lines between the battery and the tray.

If you had your batteries out that may be worth a look.

Good to know, I’ll check to make sure I didn’t pinch anything.

To clarify it was a pinched vacuum line. It was obvious when I pulled the battery back out to get to where the sensors mount. If memory serves, it was the front battery.

This area correct?

And those 2 sensors. Ironically enough it performed completely normal today…

I’ll try and check at lunch when I get a minute.

Yes, they mount almost directly below the front battery tie-down outboard mounting point. The vacuum lines route in between the batteries.

By the way, ignore the batteries in that photo. They are dummies.

Glad I'm not the only one that scours zoomed in Land Cruiser Heritage Museum photos to figure out where things are or what they're supposed to look like 😂

Those photos cost cubic money. I hope people use them.

Exactly. I’m always zooming in trying to figure things out.

Definitely I use those. The only thing I wish is that they would open up into a larger hi-res format where you could really zoom in.

If you would like to fund that upgrade please reach out. :)

The challenge is that then hammers the page loading speed, and that then results in a shift down the search rankings. It would also be an upgrade in hosting to get the extra space, so it very quickly adds costs as @cruiserdan points out.

The front timing case is the gift that keeps giving…

Pretty sure some is leaking around this bolt. It doesn’t say anywhere to use sealant but I might try some and see if that gets rid of it.

Here I’m not sure if it’s around the crank seal or not…it wasn’t leaking before and I changed the seal when I took it apart…maybe that was a bad idea.

It looks like I may just have to pull it again and use FIPG…it never leaked like this before on the timing cover.
