Our 70's are too pretty for the Con. We'll travel in style in my built '73 FJ40

Alberto,
I am envious of your knowledge and skill of cruisers! Thanks to you and your generosity, I know a whole lot more about cruisers than I knew a year ago......but will never reach your level of expertise! I'll tip my hat to you, my friend.
No offense Charles!!!!;)

He's already got the smaller, e locked front axle-as I recall from an early post-and was planning to eventually use it. This is really a great build.

Nice! Are you planning on upgrading the front at some point to a factory rear elocker?

Correct. The front axle swap is already done and described in post # 87 to 89.

As 89GASHOG mentioned, I went with the smaller 8" factory 70 series e-locked front axle assembly that I bought from another MUD member. The e-locked axle came with electric hubs that were replaced by manual AISIN hubs as described in posts # 87 to 89.

Nice to see you were able to take her out for a spin last month! How goes the rear FF install?

what are you planning to do in order to control e lockers .?

Hey David!

I was trying to source the factory wiring and ECU from an 80 series but it is proving to be very difficult.

As an alternative option, I bought the 12Volt Guy Dual E-locker controller and wires from the link below:

http://www.12voltguy.com/DUAL-E-LOCKER.html

I do not like the launch/racing switches that they use, so I will be modifying the system a little bit. I will use ARB style switches and will mount the LED indicator light somewhere else in the dash (not sure where yet....suggestions???)

Wiring these things is a task that I am not really looking forward to, but it will need to get done...hahaha

Looking forward for any input and advice.

Thanks!

-Alberto

Just placed an order for two ARB style DPDT switches (same type as used by 12Voltguy) and engraved rocker panel that says "Front Locker" and "Rear Locker".

Thanks for the lead, David!

What an awesome thread, your 70 is everything that I dream mine could be one day after a full resto, if the rust does not completely win the battle.....
