I'm in need of a couple of photos.

1. I am installing the pedal cluster and it appears there are "ears" that mount at the front of the dash, directly under the speedometer. I am not sure how those are oriented. I have removed (just move forward in the engine bay) the brake booster and clutch master to make room to install the pedal cluster, but I am not sure how it affixes to the front of the dash.

2. In my hasty disassembly of the e-brake, I can't see how the little tab and small spring go back together (what clicks when you pull out the parking brake).

Much appreciated if you have a photo or two available.

Thank you

Hope these help, if not feel free to ask for more.

- i will post the needed Original micro-fiche based parts diagram for you to further identify the needed ears ....

- are you sure your not seeing or refering to the qty x 2 FEET / TABS on bottom of the YAZAKI 83100- that require the whole TILT-OUT procedure ?

- the thingy thing you are struggling with is called the PAWL ...

- 2nd micro-fiche based parts diagram to follow here below at well

@Andrew S thanks man! Exactly what I needed. What a hassle installing the pedal cluster. I had to remove the gauge cluster was the trick.

Installed a new stop switch:

There isn't much online should someone be installing their cluster as well. Install BEFORE the gauges, booster, clutch master.

I also purchased a new flasher (before I found a good original). Note the difference in part numbers and form factor:

I'm just about done (I think) with the dash/wiring/etc.. I'm waiting on a few more parts to button up the windshield, otherwise abou there!

My work space is a disaster. It takes an hour just to clean up after each wrench session!

I went and got my annual inspection on the 964 today.

I’m curious. Did the superseded flasher 81980-12H04 plug right into the harness side two pin connector for the OEM NOS larger flasher 81980-30040?

It sounds like you've embarked on quite the project with your Mustard cruiser! Restorations can be a mix of excitement and challenges. Dealing with a difficult purchase experience is never fun. Considering the legal aspect is a good idea, as Comment 1 suggests.

The e-brake issue can be a common hiccup, but it's great to hear you've managed to get it functional using the FSM's guidance. As for the ignition cylinder in Comment 2, it's a detail worth investigating further if it seems off. Regarding the hole near the e-brake cable, that's often associated with locking steering columns in certain markets, as mentioned in Comment 3.

Restoring a vehicle to its original glory can be truly rewarding. Stay patient and thorough, addressing one issue at a time. You're not alone in the journey – the forum community is here to support you. Keep us updated on your progress!

I've never been sure if that is a genuine factory throttle, or pieced together by someone later? Matt might be able to tell us.

Andrew
The pedal and correlating clamp for the cable looks correct, but the mounting bracket is home made and cable does not appear period corrext. Only the very early units had a cable that said throttle as far as I know. This is what the OE bracket and knob look like on my unmolested ones -

Operation: Spaghetti. I have a few questions I need help with (on the next post, limit 10 photos per post).

Prep and study: (I use whatever I can find, including bring a trailer)

When I ordered air pump clamps new from Toyota, this is what came in the mail (will release tension when I have everything set):

I hope this isn’t an issue, but in the schematic, note the VCV has an 8mm line going into the base of the carb. I do not have a fitting anywhere around the base of the carb that I can see! Is there another source of vacuum I can use for this? Anyone with a 78 that can show the plumbing for this?

Next - the vacuum line from the distribution block on the carb - where does that go?

Photo of it on my carb:

Other than these two - I think I have the vacuum lines about wrapped up:

Thanks Locklaw. What year is your 40?
Happy to help. The one pictured is a 10/72, I have the same hand throttle setup in some other 40's, 45's and 47's I also have, but not all. Later models usually all diesel. And all are right hand drive if that makes a difference
