Doesn't look like you brake drum is seated all the way on. How thick is it where it goes on the flange? drums normally go over the hub and are flush or maybe a bit recessed if I recall. Is the paint keeping it from sliding on further? around the perimeter of the hub?

Not sure about the thickness/details of the hub (which might be aftermarket). I ordered longer wheel studs from Toyota. When they arrive, I'll investigate while installing and provide details on the thread. It does seem like something isn't right.

I forgot to snag the 1/2 and 1/2 out of the fridge to bring to work for coffee - now I'm cranky.

It may be time to switch to Sanka.

@V8FJ4078 Pretty sure you are right. The drum is not seating on the axle - likely the epoxy high temp paint blocking it from seating.

Either way, I'll replace the wheel studs, but while in there I'll have to clean the paint off the contact areas and evaluate. I'm confident that will solve the issue.

I remembered the 1/2 and 1/2 today.....no Skanka. :-)

@JDNs78FJ40 10mm here.

Or, SOR.com part #20 for your application here.

Keep in mind this works for a few things, so I purchased 5 feet. Side note, for the fuel filler breather/overflow, you need 13mm. 13mm braided hose is not available, only 1/2" nylon braided. Cloth braided is only available in 12mm (looks stretched when put on) or 14mm (could allow fuel smell in the cabin). I know we are talking millimeters and the 14mm will likely be fine. However, I opted for the 1/2" nylon braided for now.

I hope this helps.

Anyone know what the two-pronged VSV is on the manifold in this first photo:

Mine is a single-prong (I am building a California-spec EDIT: FEDERAL MARKET) All of my decals are blue/green, not red (using @wscbill's old photo store for reference).

Also, is it this part: 90917-11023 Genuine Toyota Filter, Gas - https://www.toyotapartsdeal.com/oem/toyota~filter~gas~no~1~90917-11023.html

Thank you!

It is called a 'gas filter'...not sure of the number of prongs you should have, but the below part numbers may help. Mine originally had the OEM two prong unit, and I updated it with the one you show. However, now I have the Sniper, that hole is plugged.

FWIW - When I desmoged my 2F, it had the two prong unit shown below. However, being one nipple was capped, I updated to a single nipple 'gas filter' Toyota unit....like I said, the Sniper took care of that one too.

If yours is to have a two prong and you would like a '77 OEM unit, let me know. :)

I'd start with the paint and check for fit and see what the studs look like before replacing. Just my 2 cents...will share since you had your 1/2 and 1/2...lol

Thank you @GA Architect (and others).

I need to research this. I just went to my parts bin and I don’t have any of the vacuum pieces outside of the VSV. So inspecting my emissions book I have some parts collecting to do.

Dallas ,

- your main order has shipped

- i have most if not ALL the smog parts in the diagrams above , many NOS too ,

- i stock ONLY the 3 ports gas filter because simply having 1 or 2 extra capped off MANIFOLD ABSOLUTE vacuum port comes in handy more then you realize ,

- such as using a manual FULL SWEEP VACCUM gauges to fine tune your ignition timing beyond the primitive constraints of the stainless steel BB ball / the FRED

FLINSTONE UN-ENLIGHTENED approach ..

- also you will find , if you can actually find it at all the 2 port gas filter is more expensive then the 3 ports one , ODD ?

@Polecat Thank you!! You'll find information on the PCV valve hose (10mm i.d.) in my previous post HERE.
Let me know if I can help!?
Thanks. I saw the hose info (which I’ll use, so much appreciated). Maybe I’m missing it, but I don’t see details about the fitting into the manifold. Anything you can share about where you sourced that?

Oh, the PCV hose fitting - there are a few types, depending on what you have. #85/a,b,c,d,e,f....etc...

Here: FJ40, FJ55 and FJ60 Land Cruiser Intake and Exhaust Manifolds, 1968-8/87 - https://www.sor.com/cat044.sor

Hope that helps, @Polecat
