I stopped using gloss black paint because I thought I had leaks absolutely everywhere. Drove me nuts. With satin you can see a leak.

I am thinking about replacing my rear gussets. Anyone done this ? Hard?? What bolts did you use to match rivets? They have the most rust issues of the whole frame area.

I just used 3/8” hardware grade 8 so it was fairly rigid. Likely overkill but it’s like $5 more so whoopty do

Installed the head shield and I dont remember what was here. or is something installed wrong?

Looks all good. I did not paint drums because I am upgrading to disk.

Tear down of alternator and I am no expert, but this can’t be good. One is much shorter than the other.

Is this something that can be replaced?

Gas lines installed, motor mount painter and bolts replaced, exhaust bolted up, AC brackets painted.

Going to pull trans and transfer next.

Seems like there have been a rash of alternator replacements lately and as I approach and pass 200k I've had that on my mind. When I got my 80-series it had 270k on either the original or a Genuine Toyota alternator, and I noticed in the parts diagrams we can buy a brush kit for that unit. I...

I notice you are running narrow belts and you have a mix of wide (stock) and narrow (not) pulleys on your accessories. VintageAir sells a wide pulley for that compressor if you want to run wide Toyota belts. I had awful belt squeal at high RPMs until I got rid of all my narrow pulleys, and replaced with wide pulleys and wide belts.

I did not know that. I will check that out. Happen to remember the part #? Thanks for the info.
I have not had issues with squealing, just some drag on that 2F when it is idling.

I was checking my angle between tranny and rear diff. Is a 1deg different a problem?
I only see 4deg shims.
Should this be something to worry about?
