Matt, Got that same kit from SOR and it was actually pretty good. It did come with everything i needed.

Also if you get the time to look for the stuff, let me know what all you have and what you need for it. Carb stuff, that is.

Thanks much.

flip those tires around to white letter out.

You're the first person I've ever heard say this. Why? For a more retro look? I've always put white letters in, unless it's a low-rider with white-walls it looks goofy IMO.

Matt looks good, where are you mounting speakers? As far as those seat brackets, I thought the hinges connected the seat back to the base, but I can't remember for sure.

white out would look good with the paint scheme.

Interior handles I have no idea, I'll have to look...you have a 65 so the 67's style handles are different than the ones you have. Are you planning on using the brass spring loaded bases or the 66/67 style rubber bushings?

the one handle he does have is off a 67.

About a solid 4 hours on the lv tonight, although not much of a picture night.

Intalled the remaining stainless steel brake lines I had on the calipers and rear drums. Pulled the driveshafts and started replacing seals. I had filled the T-case with gear oil before I started it weeks ago and it has had a small leak in the rear seal.

I figured since I was going to be taking the rear driveshaft out I thought I would just replace the front and rear T-case seals and the front and rear diff seals. Went pretty good except I got the wrong seal at the auto parts store.

If anyone knows a part # for a 79 FJ40 rear T-case seal, please post it. I need a # to x-reference tomorrow since I told them what I needed and they gave me the wrong one? If anyone knows, please try to post it up within the next 8 hours if possible.....lot to ask I know ;p

Switched around my anit-inversion shackles that I installed backwards last year, bolted on the chrome hood emblem. Installed the rear wires into plastic split loom and pulled it through the inside of the frame out to the rear.

Few other things, but can't remember them all, most of my time was spent on seals.

Ordered up 3/16" stainless steel brake line from Summit today, will be here Friday. I had gotten some steel stuff locally, but decided that since the rest was Stainless I wanted it all Stainless. Might make up a couple new lines that I had got from Cruisersolutions that were made very poorly. Hoping to get that seal in tomorrow + some other stuff. Try to get the brake line made Friday night........maybe drive it after that???

I have an Fj60 parking brake cable as long as Poser doesn't need it anymore. He had asked for one awhile back. The wiper I probably need but am willing to send it to you because you will need it long before I will. same for the tailgate supports. Did you still need pics of the seat mounts? Interior handles I have no idea, I'll have to look...you have a 65 so the 67's style handles are different than the ones you have. Are you planning on using the brass spring loaded bases or the 66/67 style rubber bushings?

Mike,

I think the FJ60 cable is out, I got some bad info somewhere along the line. I talked to Steve I think I will have to have BTB or california push/pull make one, thanks though.

If you got parts to spare, I would love to get some from you? Semlin is probaby going to come through with more parts, but it might be a while. Another lv or 2 might come up for parts in the meantime also, never know??

Still need pics of those brackets Dave and I circled in red a page or 2 back, I have no idea where they go??

I'll take a pic or 2 of what Semlin sent me for handle, but if he said there off a 67, then there off a 67. Probably be able to get some back to you when he's back up to the one in woods in July, the other 3 handles are still there? Might even be able to talk him into tailgate supports if there straight ;)

Thanks, Matt

Do you have a post '79 rear axle with the parking brake on the rear hubs or is the parking brake on the rear of the transfer case like stock? If it's the transfer case brake I'm not sure how an FJ60 cable would work.

I had the E-brake cable made up here locally. I could have another made but I doubt it would be ready before we leave in a week and a half.

Sway bar bushings etc. are the same as the '55.

Hi Charles,

Parking brake is on the rear of the T-case, but I think I got it figured out now. Going to have one made by California push/pull......Poser called me today and set me straight..:)

Thanks for the offer, Matt

Anything you need your more than welcome to it....all I need is for you to finish your lwb ;p

I've had more than my share and more than I deserve of good will on my project......the least I can do is try to pass along some of the love :D Oh yea, and cruiser parts too.

Gotta agree here, white lettering must be in.

I have the white letters out on my 77 FJ40 on the same tire. It looks a little sporty on the 40 with the lettering out, but that's the look I want for my 40.....kinda a bold, stout sporty look, but not over the top.

On the lv I'm going for 100% cheesiness :) The goofier looking the better.....just looks more old school that way I think.

Speakers are going to get mounted in the rear side panels in the cargo area. Might be starting to work on those next week, see how it goes?

Hopefully Treeroot will post up some pics of those brackets, I thought I saw a pic of them at one time, but don't remember where they go either?

Thanks, Matt

treeroot is the one who told me the woods lv is a 67 based on the type of door grab handles...

post up some photos of the tailgate supports in the woodslv thread and I'll look next time (put it in that thread https://forum.ih8mud.com/showthread.php?t=84427 bcause i only have dial up when up there and i'll never find it on this thread). tailgate was in rough shape but there are some things left...

Matt, really appreciate everything that you can help with. Wish i could of helped you with something on yours but you already have alot better skills than me. Heck thanks to you i went totally indepth on mine. I was only going to do a bit to it to get it running good, and the next thing the wife knows it tore all the way down and we are ordering all sorts of parts for it. I tell ya one thing forsure, if it was not for the good will on this site i do not know where half of us would be on our build ups.

Enough about this, yours is coming out awesome.

Matt-

The interior door handles for the '67 where spwcific for that year. They are distinguished in that they are a plastic paddle style. The earlier interior handles where aluminum and a "D" style handle similar to a gate handle. The hole centerlines are the same.

Maybe Gene would be game to casting both styles in aluminum. The '67 ones could get painted to match the original plastic color.

The brackets for the seats (#2 in pics) are for locking the rear seat in the foward postion as I recall. This was only available on the '67 year. Somewhere here on pirate I posted the microfiche pics of seats. I don't have the info anywhere I can get to it easily or I would repost the pic for you.

The rear transfercase output seal is 90311-45001.
