Dave is correct about the other parts that hold the seat back when it is in use. 2nd generation LVs, vin numbers starting with FJ45-2 had the bracket that locks the seat up when it is not in use. That made some or all 1966 models and all 1967 models 2nd generation. There is also a different strap you can see that holds the seat halves together. Accoring to Eric, the 2nd Gen also had an extra vent off the gas tank.

These are pics from my '66 and yes........that other part is welded to the seat bottom

lets see if I can guess the next question...

Measured from the bottom of the seat and side. The last pic was measured from the raised portion to center so make sure to add the depression to that measurement.

and where did you source the wing vent hinges? Just curious if those were on the '65 when you got it. I thought that style was only offered in '66 to '67. It looks like the driver's door was a transplant but what about the passenger side?

The green is 64-65

The blue is 66-67?

this is a great lesson mike. Matt that is exactly how the seat hinges were on the woods lv. if you need the angled hinges welded to the seat bottom I can likely get em off also at least one of those canvas straps is in the woods lv loose. will get next time.

great info mike. i'll have to see what handles and hinges i have on my LV and on my spare set of doors....

I would have never guessed that is where those hinges go.

On the practical side...I don't see the need of having them. When I fold the rear seat up in my LV I have to push the front bench all the way forward. Not until then can I have enough room to fold the rear seat forward. Even after that it is still a tight fit.

My two cents and I am interested to hear others experience.

Dave

Pretty good night on the lv tonight, about 3.5 hours.

Started off the evening by using some 1/4" split tubing and installing it over the cruise control wire. Ran it though the frame and made a bracket to hold it......Kinda cheezy so I'm 99% sure I'm going to make another one, but gives me an idea.

My seal showed up via a buddy coming back from a town about 60 miles away. No one locally had it, so I started expanding out. Near by farm impliment dealer had a match....nothing wrong with Massey Fergason tractor pats in the the lv :) Seal was a perfect fit. Got all that stuff back together, less the parking brake guts. After I get the cable made I'll go back in and get all that back together, for now it's out.

Got the steering linkage up front all tightend down and cotter pinned up. Used the tape measure method to do a front end alignment for now, had to do some adjusting.

Since I've ran the thing about a month or so ago it started picking up a lot of rust in the fuel filters. I've ran 2 filters doubled up in the line to catch everything, but have had to replace them twice already. Pulled the drain plug and fuel sender and stuck a garden hose in the fuel tank.........oh........the horror.......:frown:

Not good...after about 30 gallons of water through there I got a lot out, but still a lot of crap still in there. I dumped in 2 qts of PPG metal conditioner and filled it up with about 10 gallons of water before I called it a night. Drain it tomorrow and try again I guess....

Last 2 pics are for Darin.....not sure what you want or even what I'm taking pics of? We will start with these 2 and you can request more of whatever you want if it looks like something is going to work here.

Thanks, Matt

Wow, holy pictures batman! Thanks for the lesson Mike, exactly what I was looking for and then some....:)

I just went and looked at my rear bench seat, it does have those tabs welded onto the seat bottom. Not sure if the bench seat I have is correct for the vehilce, but they are on the seat. I'll have to check tomorrow and see if I have the holes in the floor on that angle where it fastens to. I think I do, but can't remember?

As far as the vent window pieces and style, came on the door when I got it. Not sure if that's what it had or if both doors were a transplant??

Thanks, Matt

Went back and found this pic real quick, first one I found where I saw the holes.

I guess I do have them, so they will get used :) I saw in another pic there is a flat piece on the bottom and it looks like they are threaded into that.

Matt

How pumped are you that you get to weld on your brand new paint?

Matt, If i can and no one else has spoken for the parts i would really like to get everything you have from the pedal itself to the carb and in between. I seen the rod that came down from the carb is still there and anything that is attached to the side of the block that that rod came in contact with. I wish i could explain it better but i have no idea what all is supposed to go there. I had nothing for linkage with mine. It should have some springs that were by the rod at the bottom that attach to a pin in the side of the block. I have that pin in mine. I think the rod should also attach somewhere around the bottom middle of the block also.

HTH with what i need, someone in the know might know exactly what i need.

Thanks

I don't think I have to weld, it looks like it's all there. Should be able to bolt everything and go :)

Matt, any seat mount parts for the front bench? I need the sliders for mine. On the vent window, do you have a spare drivers side hinge that mounts on the door? That would be the cast one like Mike's second picture and on your truck. Not much happening on my truck now till August as we're heading up to the states/Canada in a week and a half.

Don't toss ANY LV stuff without giving us dibs first!!!

btw I'm still looking for the pickup for you but they are either rusted to nothingness down at the coast or not for sale so far. If I find something it needs to be able to make it up to you on it's own power!

Had to work late last night and have to work all weekend so no major leaps an bounds on the lv.

Did however get the Stainless steel brake lines made last night, but no driving for the lv this weekend. The brake MC was out of the 79 FJ40 and I think it is toast :frown: Just could not get it to pump up, so need to order up a new one of those on Monday, should have it Tuesday.

Been trying to get the fuel tank clean up the last few days with little success. Unfortuntely the decision was made last night to pull the fuel tank and really get after it with some aggresive cleaning measures. So hopefully that will happen Sunday.

Gotta work all weekend so not a lot's going to happen either way.
