Left this morning for Arkansas. The normal route from Tilda Bogue takes me through the Mississippi Delta but somehow the Oddball 80 went way off course via HQ for a Rotunda inspection

We managed to make a little more progress after the ribs ran out.

The exhaust has been weldered up and is at a local place getting ceramic coated.

We popped the cherry on this virgin tranny hump (this will probably flag everyone on a work computer :D)

We used a plumb bob to mark the shifter holes:

After the first hole, we were able to sit it down enough to see where it needed extra clearance.

We had contact with the bellhousing ribs. Not wanting to cut & weld onto this pristine hump, we opted to clearance the more-available bellhousing. This gave us just enough room, that we can use a washer or two under the trans crossmember for final clearance.

We’re going to need to do a little voodoo to the t-case shifter, but standard FJ40 floor shift boots fit great:

Our hose & tube guru made a few trips this week and is down to fabbing up the last hardline. These are a work in progress, still several tweaks to go.

We also ordered driveshafts and a metric boatload of electric components. We’ve got a surprise there too, so stay tuned!

There’s some more top secret alien tech of @jomelo ’s in that box…

Well I googled that web address. Now I’m really confused. Is there another rig of @jomelo ’s lurking somewhere? Or is that an apron for the local barbecue 😂?

Mike finished up the tube portion of the hydraulic system. Check this out, this guy is a true artist:

From the pump, we go under the motor where a nice crimped hydraulic line will take us to the inlet of the hydroboost unit:

One of the outlets is a low pressure return, and the other is high pressure to the steering box. We’ll have another nice, crimped hydraulic hose (to absorb frame/motor movement) running to the stainless tube back to the box:

From there, low pressure leaves the box and heads back to the reservoir:

We originally were going to use a 1FZ power steering reservoir, but it would not work for several reasons. While it would bolt right in, the location was already taken with the air cleaner. It also did not have a second return for the hydroboost.

Making the stock unit work would require cutting and welding, and since it has a nice zinc coating and is factory sealed with delicate guts, did not seem prone to modification or refinishing.

We found this nice unit from PSC, which will be easy to mount where we want it and has an additional return for the hydroboost.

It’s final home will be here-ish:

You’ve probably also noticed there has been no pictures or mention of a battery or how we will shoehorn it into the engine bay.

Slight oversight there, whoops! :grinpimp:
