The crickets are deafening in here. We’ve been slammed with boring work and we haven’t heard back from ‘Mike’ yet.

It hasn’t been a total loss though. We were underneath an 80 doing some maintenance and noticed that the 80 series muffler would look perfect under the 45.

John wants this to be quiet, so this will be just the ticket. It’s quiet and it looks like an old school truck muffler.

80s are notorious for sounding like ass if you remove the resonator, so we got a nice aftermarket unit. This may be a little too effective, so we’ll probably shorten it a good bit.

Breaking News:

We don’t know exactly what this means yet, but this project has been reclassified. We just received word that it has officially been upgraded from ‘Sloth Speed’ to ‘A Snails Pace’.

The snail must be on the move, there are slimy trails all over the place...

The next step was to figure out where to shoehorn the giant 80 series muffler. It's too big to fit sideways, so we stuck it on the jack and moved it around until it found it's happy place:

Will barely clear the rear axle, tucks up nicely and ride higher than the frame:

…and has a nice money shot peeking out of the wheel well :grinpimp:

Next step, cut the big honkin’ bracket off the back of the muffler. It will clean up nicely with the flap disc later.

Then chop up a few bends and try to connect the dots…

I’ve got the rest of the layout up here (points to head), but need to get this hanging on its own first.

The resonator is nice looking, but way too big, it’s not proportional to the rest of the system. It’s probably also a little too effective - yelling through it nearly silences your voice.

So we’re carefully tearing it apart for the length enhancement surgery.

This will work nicely once we seal it back up.

Reminds me of my tamiya rc cars! From the 80’s!! Futaba was the main supplier of controllers and servos!
That was my first thought!

You kids with your RC cars 😂.

Next up, we decided where we wanted the tailpipe and locked it into place:

We finished the resonator and held it up to see where it wanted to go…

Then made a path to the resonator…

I was almost out of bends, but had a drop that worked out perfect.
