Just saw this while browsing through my local buyers express. I have no affilition nor have I seen the vehicle. It's about 2 hours from me in Faribault, MN (south of MNPLS). Here's the ad:

1961 Toyota Landcruiser FJ25, 38000 original miles, original condition, always shedded, not driven for several years $7000
507-332-8249

I just thought something as rare as this would be appreciated here.

damn, if i didn't have so many projects ...

personally, i think that is a score at that price.

very cool looking truck

yes the paint is bad...sooooo....much overspray

rust doesnt seem all that bad...it was resprayed...but...since it was so long ago that it was done it could be just what you see.

all seats there...however recovered
original spare wheel....however others are gone (does he have them?)
gas tank seems to be leaking a bit

in our area it seems alil high....2k to ship would suck

still a cool looking truck

how is he with price?

What are the shifters next to the gas pedal? Tcase and PTO? No winch..

Hand Brake and Transfer In-Out. PTO would have been a separate flat lever with a flap.

It is about as complete as you can get if your looking to go original. Front bumper, rear lights, and probably vacuum wipers are gone. I believe he may have the original wheels.

Has anybody laid eyes on this yet? I'm tempted to run down this weekend just to look - love these old rigs. It would make my day just to crawl behind the wheel.:D

How far is it for you

I'm in Minneapolis, just west of the airport, so about an hour South.

So did anyone ever take a look at this cruiser? The hard top FJ25s were rarer than the soft tops. In AZ I know of about six 25s all soft tops. I believe most the hard tops went to colder climates which normally means rust. This one seems to have survived pretty well.

I too am curious... the truck is not for me (although if it were local I'd probably try to negotiate a price). He told me $6k was his "best" price but I'll bet he'll do better...

i don't think it is the price, it is a select few that will want it and even fewer will see it for what it is (an almost complete low rust 40 year old collectors vehicle).
i feel all he needs is to wait patiently for the right buyer to come along.

i would be in but i have too many projects already.

exactly.... I like my 40 and all... but a rare one... that I would want to upgrade brakes and steering and what not to make it drive better... just no point... plus all my friends will just call it a jeep anyway

I just wonder how much bondo and rust is under that red paint? MIke

Wow...that is a pretty nice looking 25!!! Looks very stock, looks pretty complete, and not that far at all...nice looking rig that you can almost just get in a drive while you plan for a true restoration...

EDIT: Obviously I have no affiliation with this rig, but if I was seriously looking for a rig, or just had cash in hand, this is one of those I would be kicking my self pretty hard if I let go...

This is pretty sweet. Like another recent poster (apeterson) said, I would love to have it, but would feel compelled to start upgrading instead of enjoying its originality.
