Nah, I am very familiar with the red gold WS fluid, and maybe I got into a thread that was some other Lexus, but it came in a can and was a Toyota transfer case fluid. Never seen or heard of it, and can't seem to find the thread again (wasn't on MUD). Made me curious and I just needed some confirmation.

EDIT: I foind the thread and the reference was for the 460s (2010+), looks like 470 is just gear oil.

Hmmmmm. Interesting. I've never seen or heard of that before. My wife drives a 460, so I need to look into that. Thanks for the heads up!

Here is the thread from Club Lexus for reference:

Differential and Transfer Case Fluid Change - ClubLexus - Lexus Forum Discussion

Didn't seem like they came up with a good equivalent, and they seemed to infer that it was much thinner than gear oil, but not ATF. Sounded like a 0W motor oil almost.
Interesting. Sure wasn't aware of that. I also forgot that the 460 t-case has a Torsen differential in it, so that may be the reason for the straight 75 weight oil requirement.........but there can be NO justification for how expensive that stuff is! Good grief!

This, ladies and gents, is the absolute worst bit of engineering that I have seen to date....

Whoever decided this was a good idea needs to have to be beaten nearly to death, allowed to heal up and then be beaten again!

Got right at 1.25" on both sides with them adjusted down to the bottom of the body. The drivers side lean is in full effect and I started about 5/8" lower on that side, but the CO's lifted each side the same. Thinking I will leave the passenger side alone and adjust the drivers side up to match it.

My measurements are from the bottom lip of the rim to the fender.

And the passenger side all mounted up.

Resi is mounted to the bottom of the inner fender on this side. I got more pics and Erin has a bunch. I got to do a proper write up once I'm all done, but other than some minor adjustments, the front is pretty well done and ready for an alignment.

For sale, complete GX470 factory non-KDSS suspension.

Rear bags don't leak as far as I can tell and we got the front sensors off complete.

Lack just a little wrapping up the rear, but got everything in.

Gained about 3" in the rear from the starting point which I think was the normal setting.

Measured dead even after it hit the floor.

Passenger was a shade higher to start.

Still need some self tappers to mount the resi's proper, but I janked them up temporary.

0512181837.webp

And profile. Sits about a inch high in the ass end, but with tent up top and loaded with gear I suspect that will level out.

Gonna run to town to get some screws tomorrow to finish off the rear and the see about setting up an alignment.

Damn, I guess I should have known that I needed to write the guy that put the fronts together a note so he would put anti-seize on the shock bodies.... I worked on them for a while today and realized that to really do any proper adjustment I am going to have to break them back down and goop them up and then see if they spin any better.

I did get the rear buttoned up with a permanent mount for the resi's

Drilled and tapped a couple holes in the frame and then bolted them up.
0513181614.webp

I did discover that the passenger side inner CV boot is shot, so I am going to get an automart replacement to get us thru GSMTR and then reboot the OE one to keep as a spare.

I took it around the block and it rides good. Firmer than stock, but still smooth and responsive. More positive than the OE setup.

Going to call the shop tomorrow to see about scheduling the alignment.

Looks good Matthew. Are yall bringing the GX and 40 to GSMTR or just the GX?

GX is the plan right now. Ford ain't ready to tow, 40 isn't road capable over 20mph, so figured maybe we can at least test out the TT setup. 2 long hot days later, it is on, I can't hardly move and we at least have something to run around in.

Picked up a set of spidertrax spacers for all 4 corners. The rear flexes enough that the tires are rubbing the resi hoses when it flexes out, so gonna slide the wheels out a little to eliminate that.

The fronts seem to be in good spots so far, didn't notice any contact with either side during GSMTR.

RCI is having a Memorial Day sale on skids if any of you guys are in the market. After GSMTR, they are the next thing on the lost for the GX

Momma had quite a week.

RCI front and gas tank skids to replace the ones we scraped up and dented at GSMTR, spidertrax wheel spacers to keep the rear tires off the reservoirs and bluepitbearing front bearing assembles because I am getting a little noise from the front and I think its time.

The bluepit units are very nice units and accorsing to the video, should make replacing the front bearing very straight forward.

Big thanks to @BMThiker for the recommendation to #bluepitbearings. If any of you guys with a Tacoma, FJC, 4runner, GX, tundra or sequoia need front wheel bearings, check him out. He basically builds unit bearing assemblies and makes doing the front bearings on these rigs as simple as 4 bolts (after wheel and caliper are out of the way).

Erin's GX was getting a little noisy and it sounded like it was coming from the front. I figured what the hell, its got 150k on it so I'll start with the front bearings. Ordered up a pair and went to work.

Well built with all the hardware for a direct swap.

I suspected the front driver was my problem and my suspicions were confirmed when I jacked it up and gave it a little jiggle. "Click, click, click" it said so on we went. Once the caliper is off, rotor hat comes off and then it is just 4 bolts and a little wiggling and the old bearing is out.

0609181209a.webp

Once the old bearing is out, I cleaned any dust and dirt that fell in out, put a little grease on the axle splines and in went the new bearing assembly.

0609181233.webp

0609181233a.webp

And once the tire was back in, did a follow up jiggle, no movement or noise. Success!

Rotor and caliper back on, then bolted the tire back up and done. Took a little over 2.5 hrs to do both sides, taking time to clean the bolts, loctite everything and torque it all down. Highly recommend Tony at www.Bluepitbearings.com if you need to get into yours.

Will probably throw the front skid on this afternoon before we go to the tractor pull, wheel spacers and gas tank skid for tomorrow.

RCI front skid is on.

The OE unit had some love scares from GSMTR.

The RCI skid is very nice and come with all new hardware, but to my dismay it was not JIS... Couldn't stand the idea of a 13mm bolt, so I dug around and came up with the proper sizes. When we add the trans skids I may have to find a 40mm JIS for the rear, but for now, we are golden.

Going to have to find a filler piece to go from the bumper to the front cross-member to help protect the AC condenser from rocks and such.

So gas tank skid and wheel spacers will be a project for tomorrow.

Spidertrax on all 4 corners. Should take care of the hose rubbing issues.

Has to do a little heat treating on the front fender liners to keep from rubbing under hard turns, we'll see how it does.

I also trimmed the rear flaps while I had the knife hot like momma had been asking me to do.

Also, gonna have to order some new lug nuts. Never seen this before, but one of the rears snapped off at the washer while putting the tires back on. Luckily it was just snug so I was able to back off the remainder by hand, and also lucky for me I have a few other rigs sitting around to rob a lug nut from...

0610181632.webp

Judging by the corrosion on the break, it's a wonder it didn't break any number of times that I have taken them on and off in the last few weeks...

Her collection is growing. At this rate it well be better put together than my other junk.
