I just ran a tank of gas through my truck actually trying to get the best fuel mileage. There is a guy in the 100 section that is getting 17-21 mpg so I wanted to give it a shot too.

What I did....never get over 2000 RPM unless on the interstate then don't get past 2200 RPM. That is about 68-70 mph. Part of the tank was mixed driving like I normally do and the other part was down and back to Hazelhurst.

15.5 mpg. Tops. Driving like grandpa.

Still 2.5 mpg better than the 80 :smokin:

Since you guys are talking about 100 series prices, I figure I'd ask what you guys think my 100 is worth. It's pretty built and has new tires from JRob. I'm debating selling it b/c my wife is probably going to be losing her job in the next 2 months due to the current school funding bull**** going on. Also, the price of gas won't help our situation. :crybaby:

Want to sell the bumper?

That looks like my hundred , just a lot nicer.

Yes. If I had any fabbing skills I would
already have it. I was a little concerned
about cutting the frame but I'm getting
past that.

Trade him the Taco Greg!

He is also claiming 10% mileage increase with an Amsoil tranny fluid change.

I have no reason at all to doubt these numbers, they just had me thinking.

One thing different is that his truck is a 2007 with the later, more HP tweak on the 4.7

10% with a fluid change? That seems high but what do I know. I'm betting it does have more to do with the later model engine. I'll keep it under 90 on my next road trip and give a report.

Didn't the later 100s get the 4.7 with variable valve something or other? More power and mileage??

If your worried about fuel milage buy a prius. All of these snake oil remities and worthless gadgets for increasing fuel milage are annoying and 99% of the time the gadgets cost more than any savings that will ever be seen in milage increases. It reminds me of magnets on the fuel line will help improve milage aligning the fuel molecules for better atomization or who can forget the tornado contraption. 100's weigh 5100#+ stock, as aerodynamic as cinder block and a 4.7l v8. I heard if you piss in your radiator you will increase fuel milage by 5% because piss has better cooling properties than water and therfore the engine will run in the proper temp range for proper fuel combustion, aligniment of antifreeze molecules and even proper tire wear.
