No you need to remove the whole door panel. Its really easy to do. You can take it off in about 10 minutes...
If the impedance (ohms) is lower on the speaker than the amp is designed for it will burn up the amp.
If it's too high the speaker will not put out as much sound and/or quality sound as it would if the amp and speaker ohms match
If I remember it right the front door speakers from the 100 with JBL system are 2 Ohm. The drivers I replaced the busted ones with were 4 Ohm. They weren't quite as loud, but definitely sounded better than the busted ones.

Does your speaker now not work at all or does it rattle / buzz? It is a well-known issue for these speakers to have problems with the foam surround. If it's not working, that's another thing altogether.

The bass is roasted. It rattles anytime bass goes through it.
I ordered new ones. It was only $100 for both.

As much as you refer to food, i completely had to re-read this the correct way a second time.
Only your foam is roasted. If you're so inclined, the factory ones are, generally, repairable. http://www.simplyspeakers.com/

I've been nosing around. Few on CL in the surrounding states in the +/- $10K range.......Be patient. One will pop up (Let everyone know the exact specs - or range of specs - you'd consider)
