It would be interesting to see if the resonance changes frequency with Stock Manifolds, DT Headers, and the new EMS headers.
There is definitely a difference in the tone, rythm, resonance point, and volume with those various manifold/headers that you describe.

I've seen resonator weights hanging off mufflers before. You guys tried anything like that?

Nick, I am not going to argue with you on this. I am simply going to say that you are wrong and what you've written here is 100% false. Headers on any vehicle, including the Land Cruiser do make the sound different depending on runner length, and if designed properly to flow better, louder as well. This was also the case in every single set of DT headers we have installed on 100 series land cruisers in the past.

You are arguing! If you take a stock Landcruiser and install our shorty headers there WILL NOT be an exhaust volume or tone change. The ONLY sound that MAY be heard would be a slight tinging sound under the hood but that usually only comes into play when replacing CAST manifolds. If LONG TUBE headers were installed they would remove the cats so obviously volume and exhaust tone would increase. If cats were removed by replacing the "B" pipes OR an exhaust system was changed again the volume and or tone would change. I deal with headers and exhausts EVERY DAY. I may not know everything but I know this.

I know Nissan does this from the factory. It does seem to help smooth it out a bit but not really a drastic change. The best thing for suv's is to install as big of resonator as far back as possible.

That is a mechanical baffle type glass pack. It should in theory be pretty beneficial.

nother inside pic of it.

Just a comment on this.
I installed my DT headers and retained everything else stock about the exhaust. I could barely notice any kind of change in sound at all. There was a barely noticeable sound change that appeared to come from the engine bay. Only someone who had driven the vehicle for a while would be able to tell the change in sound.

That makes sense, you are saying that the sound is slightly different because it is coming through thin pipe now instead of cast iron.

And there is no drone at a certain RPM, correct?

When headers were installed with everything else remaining factory, there was no change in tone at the tail pipe. There was a barely noticeable change of sound coming from the engine bay. Only a very observant 100 series driver would be able to hear a difference. There was no drone with the addition of headers.

With catback exhaust, there is a drone at 2K RPM as mentioned above. I plan to install a resonator, either DTs or aftermarket.

The addition of our built in silencer in the tailpipe will reduce volume by about 20% and lessen what people describe as drone.

I will give it a shot / getting a quote now to throw in a silencer.

Correct on the material statement 100%. There WILL NOT be any drone by adding the headers by themselves no.

Guy, this thread is about the EMS cat-back exhaust. If you'd like to discuss the DT headers, there's already a thread going for that. Thanks.

My apologies. I just wanted to make sure correct info was being given out. I am here not only to sell products but to provide accurate advice to people with exhaust questions in general.

Hey Bak,

I'm guessing you guys tried a handful of resonators before deciding to go with the one you include.. which one is it?

Would you recommend I get the same one?

I'm hoping I can source it in town!

They make them up themselves.

Ohh, that means I will start looking :)

I wonder if it's the same as the 80 series EMS Resonator?
https://forum.ih8mud.com/80-series-...iral-flow-muffler-installation-resonator.html

It would be real nice if someone with an EMS System + EMS Resonator chimed in!

Meanwhile... I'll go measure the room in the final tailpipe section and go call around.

Thanks Les!

The way it is tacked on looks the same both systems. I'm betting it's the same. The Moroso will fit in the last section, at least by the measurements it will.
