Hey Bak,

I'm guessing you guys tried a handful of resonators before deciding to go with the one you include.. which one is it?

Would you recommend I get the same one?

I'm hoping I can source it in town!

We do not offer a resonator on our Land Cruiser exhausts. From our experience a resonator on a free flowing exhaust system does not do much in the way of quieting down the exhaust unless you use the highly restrictive types of resonators. You'll see maybe a 2-5% change in volume with most resonators. What we offer on our exhausts systems is a silencer that we hand fabricate here in-house. We offer the silencer option for folks who want to lower the volume of their EMSPowered high flow exhaust system. It lowers the volume by approximately 15-20%. If you'd like a silencer we can weld one into your tailpipe for you.

Well this is from your OP in this thread and why that may be confusing:

Optional resonator/silencer for even more silent operation

Additionally, my Tailpipe says it has a "resonator/silencer" on my invoice.

I figure if I parse this thread, I'll find more "resonator" references if I were to look.

A few stand out
You mention resonator/silencer in post #17
You mention resonator/silencer in post #68
You mention resonator/silencer in post #17
You mention resonator in post #216
You mention resonator in post #250

So why the change in semantics?
We got the resonator terminology from you originally.

Any update on the RobRed CatBack testing? He received your exhaust right?

What we make for the catback exhaust in the tailpipe is a silencer with a resonator chamber between to disks. People were confusing it a resonator, so we changed the terminology on the website. It's the same thing we've always built. We do also offer resonators as an option in the 100 series mid-pipes. They do help slightly to lessen the resonance.

Any update on the head to head dyno?

I am also interested in the midpipes as the converters on my '99 are aging and throwing cdl

I ordered a dt cat back but he doesn't offer the mid pipe - my major holdup is that I don't want my truck to be excessively loud. Ha.

I have most of the inside dynomat covered by a local stereo shop so I'm hoping this 'drone' isn't much of an issue

Do you sell your 2.5" "silencer" as a part?

This is news to me. When we spoke in late January about options to quiet the drone and we agreed that you would drop ship me two resonators and a silencer that I could have a local shop install. It's been a month and after multiple attempts to contact you via phone and here I have not gotten those parts or even at least a call back. I'd like to quiet my system down and want an option.

Very frustrated by your customer service,
Nate

Correct on the material statement 100%. There WILL NOT be any drone by adding the headers by themselves no.

I agree. I've had mine on for a year now with stock parts behind the DT headers. 90% of folks won't hear anything at any speed or RPM

The midpipes are available for orders on our website here: http://www.emspowered.com/storefron...uct_info&cPath=61_119_199_200&products_id=758
I think RobRed was doing the dynos. I'm not sure where he is at with them. Thread on RobRed's dyno testing here: https://forum.ih8mud.com/100-series-cruisers/649910-catback-exhaust-testing-4.html

We have options for up to 2 resonators in the mid-pipes and also our built-in silencer in the tailpipes to help keep things quiet when opening up the exhaust for better flow.

Do you sell your 2.5" "silencer" as a part?
Normally we don't, but I'm sure we can help you out, give us a call 512-686-2800 or email sales@emspowered.com

Hey Nate, sorry for the phone tag. Good to finally talk to you a few minutes ago. On those dropshipped resonators its not something we usually sell separate so it doesnt go through our normal ordering system. I dropped the ball on getting those dropshipped to you. I just put the order in with the warehouse those come from and they're dropshipping directly to you.

Correct, with the stock exhaust on there as a "cork" the sound changes slightly but not much. With a high flow cat-back exhaust, the sound difference with or without headers is quite noticable.

Excuse me, but what the hell is this statement?

you just said this above on this very page:

We do not offer a resonator on our Land Cruiser exhausts.

Do you understand why people might get confused?

Please explain the terminology here and figure out what terminology you are going to use so that we are on the same page.

We offer resonators in place of the cats in the mid-pipes for those that want them. It's listed on the website. For the cat-back exhaust, the silencer is the only option, because during our testing a 3" ID resonator did not make enough difference to offer as an option.

You need to elaborate on the terminology you are using here.

Because you sold me a "resonator/silencer" on my invoice.

So you've used 3 designations that I know of.

Silencers

Resonators

Resonator/silencer

What's the difference, be specific

See post 384.

The Resonator/silencer unit is exactly that. It is a silencer unit that also does the job of a resonator. To simplify the terminology we now call them silencers. They are still the same exact thing that we used to call "resonator/silencer" for the last 5 years, we just now call them a "silencer" on the website to help avoid confusion.

The resonators, are just resonators.

The ONLY place on the 100-series exhaust that we offer a resonator is on the mid-pipes. The silencer is available on the 100-series EMSPowered catback exhaust.

Thanks for calling me yesterday and getting some mid pipe resonators out to me. Ill get them installed and report on the drone afterwards.

For all, I settled on four resonators for my mid pipes since I do not have cats and am super charged. This shouldn't effect the flow and hopefully quiet it down some.

Sure thing Nate, let me know what you think of the sound after adding the resonators.

Bak can you please send me the 2 silencer discs? It looks rather easy to ship, and the 15-20% would be much appreciated.

Emailed you about it last week.

Hi Yuji,
I apologize for the late response, we were tied up with the rush before the TX2K Supra national meet and the Texas Roundup Land Cruiser meet the last couple weeks. I'll get that email replied to for you and see about getting a silencer shipped out to you.

Due to high demand from you guys, the permanent price on our 1998-2007 100-Series Land Cruiser cat-back exhausts has been permanently reduced to $575.

You can place your orders through one of our dealers, or directly through our website here: http://www.emspowered.com/storefront/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=61_119_199_200&products_id=757

This is great!
But, we need a 'sale' on the mid pipes.

Thank you guys for your effort - any updates or gains on the uzj100 air intake setup you guys were working on?
