FYI: I carved up some plate I had laying around into a couple recovery points...and welded 'em onto the TJM...right over the bracket that connects to the frame.

Now you do have a front recovery point! Who's next?

Cheers,

One of these days Jay when I get bored I'm gonna section 2.5" out of the front bumper: If I never thanked you for the idea: THANK YOU! :)

You didn't carve up a couple extras "practicing" did you? :)

That setup looks really nice. The lights are a nice touch too, and cover the bling holes.
Any reason you didn't weld the recovery points directly to the front?

While I have you 100 experts... am I destined to upgrade my OME springs to Heavy when I get the Slee rear installed? I don't load too heavy on trips, but the bumper itself is a beast.

I wanted less overall overhang on the front...the TJM and ARB's are so darn long and with the points atop it also make the bumper not appear so long/over extended.

Are you going to lift your 100 or try to keep it factory height? If you are doing the OME 2.5" lift and you are going with the Slee rear bumper WITH the tire carrier you'll probably want the 865 or 866 spring. If you are really going to pack on the extra weight, again with the 2.5" lift, then you may want the 863 spring. Otherwise if you are going to stay stock height I think Christo recommends the 860(?) spring.

FYI: I have the AO Drawers (full of recovery gear, CO2 tank, etc., along with fridge/freeze, aluminum dog box and the Slee rear bumper with tire carrier (315 spare) and the 863 wasn't enough...I went with a custom spring from Christo/Darren that has worked out pretty well for me (about 20-25mm shorter than the 863, 19.5mm rod and I am running 30mm packers to get it to sit where I want it).

You are right... between the lights and the points it does "shorten" the look. My only concern, maybe unjustified, would be how the bumper held up to the pressure pulling from the top vs. the front but I'm sure you've used yours with no issues?

I have the OME Med lift so based on that, I'll put the bumper on, readjust the T-Bars, align, and see how it rides. Sounds like I may be fine with what I have. I doubt I'll pack like you do!

Thanks for the info.

I just got the recovery points on there a couple weeks ago and haven't needed them yet ;). However I really couldn't see a strength compromise by putting them atop. The mounting system plate for this bumper runs right underneath the recovery brackets...if I ever get this rig stuck that deep/bad I'll run two bow/D shackles on the front with a tow/recovery strap connecting both recovery points <120 degrees to distribute the load.

You're gonna love that bumper!

Done! For now at least.

Put the rear slee on today.

Only issue I have to work through is there are two of the captured bolts on the bottom front frame that are shot... one is stripped, and one the bolt broke off.

They are (or should be) attaching both the front bumper and the winch mount to the truck. Not sure how to deal with that, but until I have to use the winch it isn't a problem so I have some time to work through it.

Bring your good metric bolt to your decent hardware store and ask for Metric Tap & Die threader tool set to match. It happened to me when I hastely put the bolt back too quickly with my power tool and it striped some threads.

As for removing broken bolt, drill the broken bolt with small drill bit then a bigger one then use threader (same as original size) if you're comfortable.

Regards,

Thanks... I'll give that a shot.

On the future wish list... ARB front locker, build a drawer system, better underbody protection, auxilary gas tank.

All things in time.

Looks great Steen, glad that you've treated her well. Can't wait to see you on the trail!

Treated as she deserved! Thanks for turning over a gem. Many years of play to come for sure. Toughest decision now is going to be what to drive! Definitely will see it in Cullowhee in the fall.

Now you have to resist wheeling it vs. the 40 :)

Questions:

1. Paint match the sliders?

Here is a picture of the sliders/bumpers on my wife's 100 series that are color matched...same color as your truck, I believe.

Sorry, I guess I should have read ahead...hope the picture at least helps.

Thanks for the pic. I ended up going all black obviously but I was right that the all silver would be a good look ;)

Thanks for confirming! :grinpimp:

Finally got some more done on the hundy courtesy of ACC.

ARB Diff

Snorkel

Dual Battery with outlets in the back

I also think we found the source of it overheating at GSMTR. The radiator was completely clogged with mud everywhere the fan didnt cover. And I do meen solid with mud all the way through the core.

AC inverter big enough to run a Microwave.
