Are LT tires a good idea to run on the 100 series

With a sad heart I have to report that the 1997 Tacoma we have that has 433K miles on it has a blown head gasket or a cracked head. ( have not torn into it). Looking for a used engine for one here in VA and was wondering if there was a local source for a good engine someone would know about.
