My front e-locker will not engage. I use them regularly and both axles have always quickly locked and unlocked. A week ago when I turned the lockers off the front would not unlock. I turned off the center diff lock and drove in circles forward and backward until it finally...
i have front doors from a 74 40.
good shape
bottoms are solid
some surface rust. chrome trim seems a bit rusted...steel some slight surface rust.
glass is good latches and rollers work
door seals are still on...not sure if they are original but...decent shape.
have been rust proofed at some...
Is there some secret code to removing the front skid plate? i have removed that heavy rascal before but this time something is holding it right in the center at the jack point and tranny plug.
What on earth am I missing?

Next time you are underneath check the condition of the inner front brake hoses. I had one fail a few days ago (luckily it wasn't catastrophic). Replacement wasn't very difficult at home but would definitely suck to do in the parking lot of a parts store on a road trip.
