What Did You Do with Your 80 This Weekend?

It's not the weekend, but I whipped up a bracket to mount an iPad yesterday. I'll probably add some tabs and holes for things like a VHF radio and a fire extinguisher.

What Did You Do with Your 80 This Weekend?

Blaupunkt is one of the few brands I don't have experience with, but I think you're right. Bizarre! Looks like you could get away with slotting the hole front hole and trimming a bit to clear the bezel. Might want to measure first to make sure the radio will be flush with this configuration...

What Did You Do with Your 80 This Weekend?

I haven't done my 80 yet, but I was a professional car audio installer for years when I was young. Every 1990s Toyota I ever did, I reused the OEM brackets. Are you sure the brackets you have are stock? Did you accidentally swap left/right? Post some pics of where things are going wonky

Recovering Rover owner, just picked up an FZJ80

My oil pressure gauge was a bit lower than I'd like in traffic. Sits about a needles width below the lower mark now. I'll be going to something like a 5W-40 when it cools off. They're definitely not painted, unless someone did an incredible job. Possibly powdercoated, but I've never heard of...

What Did You Do with Your 80 This Weekend?

Dug into my "new" 80 for the first time. Tackled the PHH and some related hoses. Definitely not my favorite project, but I'm glad it's done. Waiting on a new heater valve so I've bypassed that for now. It was surprisingly difficult to find constant tension clamps locally.

    Welcome

Not sure how active this forum/group is these days, but I just picked up a 80 series and am slowly tackling all the odds n ends to get her trail ready by fall. I've been wheeling all over the western US for about 15 years, but my last 4x4 died right about the time I moved back to Boise. Looking...

I'd be offended if my Disco hadn't spent more time on a flat bed than all of my other vehicles combined 😅

Oh yeah, most of the bushings are pretty shot. That’s actually the first big project on my list once it cools down a bit (and once I sell my CTS-V). It starts and runs great, and the oil leaks are all real small from what I can tell, so I’m going to tackle steering and suspension, then brakes...

FJZ tire carrier options that don't block rear door?

@ohsix great idea, thank you! I've been meaning to reach out and see if they can give the old girl a once over anyway. @OGBeno thank you for the part numbers. Is there a resource that I can use to self service next time? Trying to avoid being "that guy" that asks endless questions lol

FJZ tire carrier options that don't block rear door?

Apologies if this has already been answered, but the searching I did here and via Google returned almost exclusively options that block the rear door (aside from the Bell Fab interior mount). My JDM FZJ80 came with no spare mount that I can find. The spare was just sitting loose in the rear...

I just finished watching a video about the PHH and was thinking I may as well do 'em all in one shot. Thank you for the suggestions, I'll see if I can get those in hand before next week. Hoping to get this thing on some trails on Monday!

I'm a bit unsure of what's going on with the springs/shocks. This thing is way taller than most of the "stock" 80s I've seen online, but none of this looks like aftermarket stuff to me. Did some of these come with factory lifts? It's currently on 270/75s and they look a bit undersized to me. I...

Long time reader, first time poster! I've been off-roading in some form for about 15 years and have owned an XJ, a T100, a Discovery II, and just bought a 96k mile RHD FZJ80. It was imported to the states about 5 years ago, purchased from the importer by an older woman who used it as a mail...

    Registry 80 Series Registry

Just picked up a JDM FZJ80 in 4K1 with a whopping 96k miles to haul my family around the mountains. Needs a few things, but overall in solid shape. Picked it up from an older woman who bought it from Duncan Imports about 6 years ago. She drove it for a couple years on her rural mail route...
