In the process of engineering to make it legal. General rule is total 3" lift in any combination of tyres and/or suspension is OK, any higher and it's an engineering certificate. Also rim offset is maximum 1" over standard each side, hence the +35 rims & tyre combo I have. +20 would have...
122Lt fuel/60Lt water tank, drawers, fridge, cargo barrier, roof rack with awning, 260kg ball weight, family of 5 with camping gear, winch etc. Going for a 3,800 Kg (8,400lb) GVM upgrade. Should be 3" front & 2" rear loaded.
Threw in some heavier rate coils ready for rear fitout and loading it up, and a new rear panhard rod to square up the axle. Lift sitting at 4" rear and 3" front unloaded, still rides nice and soft on the first rate of the slinky coil.
Just installed the Blackhawk panhard rod today along with some heavier springs ready for drawers and a fuel/water tank. As it sits it's 100mm (4") over a standard 200 in the rear and the axle is dead centre, probably have to adjust it again once the weight is in. Nice stealth look in black.
Pretty positive they make them in-house, I'll find out from my inside man ;-)
All other ARB shocks (OME) are made by Monroe, and to be honest, if you're not doing lots of constant long distance corrugated roads etc they are a better option.
Yep, all platform BP51's have the same issue. It's from the tolerances, not found on every shock, some do it, some don't. The noise is a hydraulic knock, so no, not doing any harm to any other components.
I'll have the Blackhawk installed in mine in a weeks time, I'll put up some photos then. Also allows for any slight twist in the bush so it's nice and relaxed.
