There is a 1968 fj40 in Metairie, LA listed on ebay Toyota : Land Cruiser | eBay Seller claims no rust!! I personally inspected this vehicle about 8 weeks ago and the doors, rear wheel wells, and rear tub were inflicted with advance cancer.. Unless the owner has cut and replaced the metal it is a FRAUD----Inspect the vehicle before you bid.

I am in the market of buying a fj40. Looking to spend 3,000-7,000. I am in the philadelphia area.
I am selling my 979 FJ40. I am the third owner. It has spent it's entire life in Texas. I know the former owner. They used it for local trips and some on their deer lease. Very clean all things considered when I bought it. I did a frame on restoration a few years back. Went all original except for a light lift and BFG tires. You can see photos at my profile dunntexas. I will consider offers. No trades. Adult owned. Never in the mud or off road under my ownership. 32000 original miles. No engine mods. No panel cuts. I went to look at this project yesterday it's more of a project than I need to get into at this time. I'm posting it for the owner as he is a non-land cruiser guy. It has a complete Manafre fiberglass tub and fenders already mounted, the diesel engine and transmission/transfer case seem to be mounted cleanly. has a non-land cruiser gas tank hanging under the rear of the tub. Looks like the brakes have all been redone, too. Axles are older land cruiser drum brake types. Has Warn hubs. The frame looks real good I didn't see any issues there. No top, doors, windshield frame, or seats. Here's the nessage I got from the owner:

Selling a 64 (I think) FJ40 in northeast PA. Can't be later than a 65 cause it has the vent opening in the WS frame under the windshield. I paid $400, want to just get my money out of it. No top. Doors are there but not pretty. Lower rear doors are there and actually swing out. Windshield frame intact with wiper motors in place. Embossed bezel is there but bent a bit. Lotsa body rust. Seats are there, full front and both rears. Heck I think there's an extra jump seat, too. Running boards there but rusty. Dash looks pretty well complete. Vac shift transfer case, transmission is column shift. Engine turns over but does not light, has no spark. Fuel pump missing, previous owner said it ran with gas being poured into the carb. I didn't...
1973 FJ40, 3 Speed, 1F, mostly original. Small things like the turn signals and roll bar are not.

Well the time came sooner than I had hoped for. Just as I picked up this project we found out my wife was pregnant before I even started.
I had some time off, relatively speaking and restored this vehicle in about 4 months.
I have been driving it every day for over a month now and have been working out some of the quirks. I have not worked all of them out but plan to continue to work on it until it gets sold. But it is a daily driver. I currently drive it about 30 miles every day.
I do have the hard top still but it is not painted. I have the materials to paint it though. I also have the running...

I have too many projects, and no time, or inclination to complete this one any time soon. Completed, this FJ40 should easily be worth 10-12K, even in today's market.
This FJ40 has numerous modifications:
Chevy 350 - Throttle Body Injected (TBI) - Police issue motor w/ roughly 8K on a rebuild
Aluminum (Be Cool) radiator
Downey bellhousing w/ Centerforce 2 clutch and new throw out bearing
Specter Off Road V8 Headers (needs O2 sensor installed)
Con-Fer Auxillary gas tank, giving the rig a 37 gallon total capacity
Saginaw Power...
I have a 1964 FJ40 for sale, as far as i can tell it is all original. There is some surface rust throughout, but only a couple of spots near the rear doors that are rusted through. it is not currently running. The engine does turn over when i put gas directly into the carburetor. Want to by a FJ40. Looking for a solid body (no cancer, preferably no rust) and a Land Cruiser drive train. Would prefer a 2F, 4 speed, hardtop, and a stock look, but open to any good Cruiser. Budget somewhat limited but willing to consider spending good money for a quality 40.
Located in Bedford, Virginia and willing to travel about 500 miles for the right one.

It's on of the cleanest looking trucks that you will ever see. I put a lot of work into fixing her up over the last 3 years. Every part of her has been touched and restored. The only difference from any other FJ-40 is that she has a 350 V-8 Chevy motor in her and Porsche Seats I hate to sell her, but I don't drive her and want to see her go to a good home and someone that will take her out for a spin more than twice a year.
